While dying my hair, I realized something. My boyfriends have never seen me with my natural hair color. As far as they're concerned, pink might as well be its natural color.

Just one of those things that strikes you. It hasn't been black in years.

My hair is naturally a very dark brown, and if you bleach properly...you can. And I adore the current colour, which has been an intense, hot, australian summer blue for a few months now :)

You only have to get it down to about 'dark blonde' to be able to dye it successfully. Unless you're going for white, or a pale blue.

I didn't know you had pink hair, that's too cool! Is that a picture of you in your avatar, then? If not, got any pics?

I don't get to see pink haired girlies very much. ^.^

I like to imagine colouring my hair but I have to admit it probably wouldn't look as good as my real hair, plus... well I don't do anything with my hair normally, so it wouldn't just be a matter of changing routines as much as starting some from scratch. ^.^;;

All but, like, two of my icons on LJ are my art, or are photos of me. If you dig around in the relatively unadvertised photos section of my websiteor the lj pics you'll see a few, but most of them are documenting unusual hair colors. For me.

It's about an hour or so of actual work to bleach and dye, plus time spent letting the stuff work while you do something else. How often you do it depends on how quickly and unaesthetically your usual color fades; blue is much more high-maintenance than reds, for instance.

Of course like I said, I know nothing about hair care. My scalp is a mess too. On the other hand, I'm half dutch and I've already got a growing amount silver/white up top at 26. ^.^;;

I'm kind of in the same boat. It hit me the other day that I've been dying my hair for close to a decade. I don't think I've *seen* the boring medium brown color other than my roots for years. As far as I am concerned, my hair is *red*, but my body is going to be an ass and not agree with me on this.

My response was on the order of, "Oh, yeah, although it's probably not a normal life."
