Yesterday I got together with [livejournal.com profile] prickvixen and went hiking out in Topanga. She was reluctant when I first suggested this on Friday evening as something to do on the weekend, but decided to give in lest she seem boring.

We took the scenic route driving from my place - down past LA and along PCH, then up Topanga Canyon Road to the mountains. Then we took the longer, scenic trail to Eagle Rock (no relation to the town of the same name), which I'd been to before, and had in mind as or destination.

The view was, as always, reasonably lovely.

Then we took the shorter, boring route back because we were tired, and took the equally shorter, equally boring (the rest of the way along Topanga Canyon Road, back down from the mountains, then along a fairly straight chunk of highway.

Then we went to eat, and both felt fat afterwards. Blah.

I came up with a horribly self-contradicting way to say someone is Cool: "You're fly, daddi-o." Accompanied by a surfer 'hang loose' gesture. 23 skiddoo, homies.

I need to go get on the bus now.

Yep. No car, no license even, and work's too far to bicycle.

Aaaw, what a *cute* picture!

Try eating a small meal, walking, and then eating another small meal? I get into the bad habit of eating once a day and then falling into a deep nap, which throws everything off. I have to remind myself to eat throughout the day, even when I'm not all that hungry, blah.

And yer the snake's hips g-dawg. ;)

Well, we ended up feeling Fat (not phat) because we had big heavy dinners. Tasty, but big... lotsa fries, big slab of meat. It's so easy to end up doing that sometimes.

I have that one meal a day habit too; if I eat too much I inevitably wind up dozy, if not out for a while.

By 'boring,' I meant I didn't want to give the impression that should you ever want to do something unusual, I would go 'Oh, I don't want to do that.' As it happens I think I want to go back sometime soon. I guess I have a thing for dust and thirst.

You may have to wait a while for the next time, as I seem to only get this urge once avery few years. Of course, if I was slouching around with nothing panned, I'd probably accede to such a suggestion.

You should go to Devil's Canyon. It's at end of Topanga where it meets the 118. Once you get to the trailhead in the canyon, you're out of the sun for the most part. You do gotta watch out for the poison oak and rattlesnakes, though.

I havn't seen Prickvixen in ages, not since the ConFurences of yore. Stop by and say hi at FC!!

We saw no rattlesnakes nor tarantulae nor scorpions, unfortunately. There were a couple of lizards. Oh, good, I don't like sun. That was my main resistance to going hiking... having a tan isn't very goth. I want to be pale and clammy like a Lovecraft character.

If I set foot in FC I'll take a break from ruining everything for everyone and say hi.
