moodiness means I work on tentacles.
Apr. 20th, 2004 10:58 amA hint of my working methods. Maybe.
Original sketch:

About 80% done:

Outline view of same:

Two global color swatches mean I could make this whatever color scheme I want. No transparancy or color blends; the shading you see is all hatching, done mostly with dashed lines.
Thirteen layers; the one for the person in the doorway expands into six sub-layers. I <3 layers a whole lot. This is probably done in terms of layers unless I add more tentacles.
Speaking of which, a closeup on the doorway:

There's always some part of my images that concentrates more detail than the rest, and this is it in this one. Dotted lines, swirly blends; the spines on the head (headdress?) are art brushes. The swirlies over the door are mirrored with the appearance palette, not by cutting and pasting - group, add a new stroke to the group in the appearance palette, transform it with move and reflect X.
I can't decide if the upper left needs a few more cryptic tentacular limbs or not. Also, the stripes on the back of the huge tentacle will probably vanish; I need something to contrast the suction cups that will be on its back, but those stripes aren't it.
