Illustrator over pencil rough, as if you weren't expecting that from me.
Bandwidth: VCL, though I may be going over the officially-allowable human/furry ratio there with this one...

Sort of a sequel to "Full Stop", sort of not. I've been wanting to try another strong arrow as a design element ever since doing that one.

The original rough had floaty abstracted spirally wings behind her, but they broke the vertical thrust of the arrow and brought in resonances that didn't work for me, so they got turned off in the end. They're still there, of course. I love layers.

I think I'm drifting away from drawing animal-head people. I've never been a nothing-but-furries sort of artist, and now it seems that I'm finally decent at drawing humans that are individuals. Maybe I should get some space on a non-furry net gallery, if I can find one that's not butt-ugly. And that doesn't restrict me to a particular kind of content.

I've been hearing that from a few artists of late. My useless opinion is that it doesn't really matter. You draw what your muse tells you, not what some splinter group of fandom may expect of you. Too many folks burn out on furry-themed stuff because they get demanded it by all the folks at cons or online. Screw them, draw for yourself first and the ones who get it will follow and the ones who don't, you don't want.

Great image, the expression on the face and the pose are just the perfect balance of surprise and embarassment.

I agree with what Doodles said above. I've wandered away from doing furry stuff a lot this past year, but then I tend to wander back to it. Mostly, I've been doing portraits of my mate, but think I need to do some self-portraits as well.

What I've found is that the things I learn while doing the non-furry stuff just add to the formula of the furry stuff when I come back to it. I don't think anyone has to limit themselves to a single definition or genre when it comes to their art. If you still do some furry art later on, great, that stuff gets posted to VCL. Other stuff can just be posted to your own site or an amateur site somewhere. I just don't think you need to box yourself in either way, furry-only or realistic-only. 'Artist' will likely suffice. :"D

Oddly, I drifted away from furry a while back. Just drifted. As though doing furry art had been some sort of catalyst that got me skilled or confident or something enough to do fantasy type stuff that I liked. I still draw "furry" stuff tangentially - minotaurs and gnolls and werewolves are a lot of fun for me - but I guess part of what keeps me there, is that it's furry types doing something interesting rather than just sitting around being animal people (and occasionally fucking). As for the better skill with humans thing, that definitely plays into the lack of interest - I love doing caricature and portraiture, and I do okay drawing individualistic humans, but have a real hard time doing much individualism in animal-styled faces.
