From conversation this weekend.

[Poll #284761]

"Right" and "wrong" sex are related to whatever you identify as. I identify as female despite twenty-odd years of trying to be male; if I regularly dream myself female, I'd say 'right', if I regularly dream myself male, I'd say 'wrong'. If you identify as neuter and are neuter in most of your dreams, that's 'right'. If your gender identity matches the body you were born with (lucky), it should be pretty obvious what's 'right' and 'wrong'.

I know that not all dreams have the dreamer as an active participant; a lot of mine are like that. If your gender simply never comes up, not even as a casual background sense of one, that's what 'never mattered' is for.

I, by the way, tend to dream myself female, when it's an issue in the dream. It's been that way on and off for a few years, but it's been pretty consistent since coming out to myself, and especially since my body's really started changing to match.

I've dreamed myself as female with a penis, or female with no genitalia. But always female nevertheless.

For me, it's variable. Sometimes I'm female, sometimes I'm male. When I'm male, I'm always the same person.

It all depends on my mood.

What I've noticed is that my dream-gender changes to match whatever aspect of my personality is being emphasized, according to how that trait is categorized. For example, when I am fighting and being powerful and forceful in my dreams, I am male.

Dream gender is highly variable.

Hell, dream SPECIES is highly variable.

In general, in my dreams, I'm whatever's appropriate for the situation, trying to solve whatever problem's before me. (Yes, my dreams almost always have conflict in some fashion.)

Other: Usually gender neutral. I'm 'me', but I don't think about my gender much in the waking world, and in dreams I'm usually only distantly aware of myself, and exist only enough to play along with the dream. A voice, hands when I need them, etc. Don't know what clothes I'm wearing, don't know if I'm wearing my glasses or if I have long hair still, etc.
Sometimes things come into sharper focus. Since I'm comfortable being male, in as much as I think about it, I usually end up male in the dream. There've been rare occasions I've ended up female, though.

Mostly female or asexual. Sometimes a little boy too but that character is always confused that he isn't a little girl and spends most of the dream feeling really akward.

So far, always female. There have been dreams where I was a herm., but I started the dream as female and still self-identified as female with dick(s).
I have a memory section for dreams. Want me to dig that one out and link it?

Always a guy!

Been a guy and always dreamed as a guy. Not to say that I wouldn't try being a girl, but I guess I just never willed myself to try.

Even in mucks, muds, Everquest, AO, or City of Heroes; I am just not comfortable to try.

Humm. I wonder if I will have a dream of gender bending tonight?
A great money counter, use it for your business or your home!

When I dream, I'm always Me. Gender rarely if ever even enters into the picture. I have more an overwhelming sense of Selfhood, being the one acting or acted upon depending on the situation I'm dreaming of. What Shawn said comes very close to being the way I dream, but mine are more "third person views" of whatever I'm doing than they are "first person views". My dreams also have a tendency to randomly, inexplicably change setting and/or characters; I'm always the same, whatever body I happen to be in, but the other players in my dreams change constantly. (While I'm on the subject, I once had Peggy appear in one of my dreams. I don't remember the context, but she was distinctly Peggy. I don't think we spoke.)

Wih I'd dream of me as female. But in my dreams, I am the ONLY male. And the other females are all horny and pretty. But there never had any sex occurance in my dreams...

There's two answers for the identity-variable in my dreams, and they each happen about 50% of the time. The first, I'm myself, just as I am in the waking world. The second, I'm not even in the dream myself; I watch it as a passive, objective observer. So I'm either male or nonexistent.

There's a sexist joke in there somewhere, but it's not worth the effort.

I don't remember ever dreaming of myself from another perspective, so I don't remember being any particular gender. Would be cool though. Of the list, I'd choose "highly variable" as my gender aspiration :)

I'm not sure if I answered the poll right >_<

I'm almost always a male in the dreams when gender is an issue. I've even seen my face as a male through a mirror. Sometimes I'm a female in some dreams...but mostly male.

If I'm "me" in a dream I'm female, but lots of times in dreams I've been someone else, which can be male as often as female. A few times I've even dreamed I was Thomas Walker, my (currently on sabbatical) werewolf on GarouMUSH, and he's so male and so straight that you could check your walls by him. :)
