curiosity: the satisfaction

After six total games of Magic with the intro packs I bought I have decided that it's just not for me. Playing with the two starter decks we have feels slow and bloodless and, frankly, kinda boring. Nick tells me that a better selection of cards could make it much faster and more interesting - but, well, do I want to spend a few hundred bucks on the possibility that will make it interesting to me? Nah. I'd rather just sink that money into music or books or something.
So, now I know. I guess I'm immune to its charms. I've been vaguely curious what's so addictive about it ever since it first came out, and I can see the potential addiction mechanic of wanting to buy cards to get just one more particular card to complete your awesome deck... but I'm just not interested enough in this system.
