At first I thought it was clips from 'Light Years'.
In the 70's, Rene Laloux tried to make animated films with the help of and in the style of various famous artists of the time (mostly artists of Heavy Metal) Not always entirely successful but pretty awesome none the less.
I need to finish up my current round of projects and try working on some stuff like this. *sigh*
Sympathique! And definitely done by Frenchies! :D The orbiting sarcophagus totally has a Druillet face. :D I'm amused by the fact that the protagonist is riding what is essentially a very small ekranoplan (http://www.darkroastedblend.com/2007/05/ekranoplans-showcase.html).
I remember these Birdy Nam Nam guys. There's four of them, they're French and they're all turntablists. They make the music entirely by playing records. At least, they did on their first album. "Birdy Nam Nam" is a reference to "The Party" with Peter Sellers. He plays a clumsy Indian actor mistakenly invited to a big Hollywood party. While talking to a guest, he mentions that a certain dish in his native India is called "birdy nam nam". There's no such dish. :D
Wow, that does seem to push all sorts of Peggy buttons, doesn't it? Looks kind of like a bastard child of Moebius and Kirby. NIfty, interesting stuff. Thanks for posting it.
