Just a couple of direct-Illustrator doodles of Absinthe.


She should either be a little chunkier here (her figure and self-esteem goes to hell in the end of the story) or a little scrawnier. Also her legs are too short. But it's just a doodle!

It's either funny or sad that my first thought on looking at the bottom sketch was "Why would she be self-hating? She has a cute body!" and my second was "Wait, I guess I can see why, that's basically my body type."

I'd explain why, but there would be spoilers. Suffice it to say that some Bad Shit goes down in chapter 4 and wrecks her self-image. We actually intend for her to be kinda cute in that stage - when she's not the one telling the story!

If things go well you'll get to read that chapter... um... somewhere in 2010, at the current rate of progress. Gah. Hopefully once it warms up I can stop moping around feeling cold so much instead of drawing!

(I mean, it should speed up some once the action moves off of Wormwood, as that place is just hyper-dense... but on the other hand I have a spread in chapter 2 just labeled "Where's Waldo?". I have to challenge myself even though this was supposed to be a fast, fun comic!)
