Anyone wanna apply for a job in Obama's administration?. Seriously.

The signifiers of 'change.gov' going live right after the election make me pretty damn happy. Yay, at last we will have a president who actually lives in the 21st century.

Well, I did get downsized out of my public-sector job during the Bush administration, so maybe I should.

Heck, it'll probably be one more letter that will be ignored at worse... it'll be a very interesting move at best. Worse that can happen is that I get a job. Whoo!

Just filled out and sent in the form. Hell, my parents are always on my case to become a civil servant.

I think I'm going to go ahead and stick with my computer science career.

He's only seven years older than I am. Early email and the first stirrings of Usenet news would have been going on while he was in college. He probably has younger friends who would be more exposed to/deeper into the net. And even supposing he didn't really find out about the net until the explosion in the early 90's -- even then, it's something he's been aware of for a third of his life! It's not a new thing, and he's had plenty of time to be around the culture. We won't get a president who's a real nethead for a few decades yet, but yeah, he's at least part of the same world.

He's only ten years older than I am. It's... kinda weird to see someone who feels like he's near my age on his way to the Oval Office. Presidents were always older than me, usually these wrinkly old farts in their sixties. Old men born in the forties. My parent's generation at the absolute youngest, when Clinton took office.

But Barack is shaped by a lot of the same things I was. I can imagine him blowing off classes in college to feed his addiction to Missile Command or some other early video game.

Given that McCain is in the set of people who're proud to not know how to use those new-fangled computer machines, this was definitely a generational turnover of an election.

That latter point isn't entirely fair as McCain was one of the earlier politicians to start taking advantage of the Internet. He can't use a computer much because the extensive injuries inflicted on him while a POW make it painful for him to type. That's also why you don't see him raise his arms very much, and why he leans forward towards so much towards his hand when he salutes. His captors messed him up really badly.
