sleepy.

today's pretty kickass day at the con was brought to you in part by:

* tugrik, who gave me this completely insane and amazing object based on one of my drawings - he wanted to test a computer-guided router a while back and asked for a high-res copy of 'incubus'. now it is incarnated as a piece of milled wood. i think i need to make some files specifically targeted for this device. (there's another tech project of his we talked about some too...)

* everyone who stopped by my table and was actually crazy enough to give me money for sprawling randomness vaguely related to their desires across their sketchbooks. woo. especially klandagi, who informed me i'm a big influence on her art. i always feel like i'm just walking about out here all alone, to borrow a phrase from escher. i actually got to the point where i turned a couple people away because i was worried i'd sit on their books all tonight and tomorrow without getting to them.

(i ended up too tired to go partyseeking or dancing tonight, so i took my homework out where there were people and worked on it - i have one and a quarter books left, so sketchbooks are totally open sunday. come on by.)

tonight, i got to be the one who ended the calculation of shares of the dinner check by shrugging and tossing in another ten. probably for the first time in my life. i don't want to make a habit of it but it was pretty damn nice.

* baxil, for stopping at the drugstore on the way back from dinner and cluing me in to a good non-drowsy antihistamine. i don't know if it was that or the showering with the decent soft soap i bought there as well, maybe both, but the scary constant itchiness i was getting yesterday and today is totally gone. (crappy hotel soap + dry air = unhappy skin.)

* julia, for letting me crash on her room floor this con

* sammi, for getting the table i and jon have our asses at for a good chunk of the day. why wasn't i doing this at cons long ago? oh, self-esteem issues, and hate of planning ahead. mostly.

* me putting 2 and 2 together to get a total 22 about the con sketchbook process: along with book and payment, get their celphone number and text the owner when their book is done. it's great, why isn't this everyone's s.o.p? [see footnote]

this day was sponsored by the remnants of a cold, nor by the hotel soap. the soap's ultimately down to me not wanting to hassle with the stupid 'no liquids on planes' dictum.

i miss rik, i have a sore throat, i'm running on empty, but i'm having fun.

[footnote] admittedly this means the client has your cel number when you text 'em. if this is a problem for you (worry of, or actual history with, the parts of furry fandom that make for lengthy, creepy stories) then maybe a cheap 7-11 phone used for nothing but, and your actual number on a different one?

Yowsa, also Plan B for Sketchies

o/` Peggy's enjoying a con! Peggy's enjoying a con! o/`

When I was doing my Stupid Little Sketchbook, I made sure to include my address on the back of each page... I think I'd even go so far, should I get back into it, to make up a SASE with appropriate postage and include that in the book so that, god forbid I don't find said artist again, artist can put book in envelope and post.

As per the footnote: I would say that in most cases, you're going to be selective of who you work for in the first place. If an artist asked me for my phone number, I'd likely decline.

Glad you're having fun, and keep up your strength. Given the nature of the stuff floating around, this year's con crud is exceptionally virulent.

Good that you're feeling better, physically and mentally.

By the way, the "no liquids on planes" thing is actually "no liquids over three ounces on planes". This rule gives new value to "travel size" items: if you get a container of something less than the limit, you're fine.

The phone's a good idea, we have a prepaid that we use for cons, I'm totally going to try that next con I work. ^^

Hey sounds like THAT turned out well despite your first-day apprehensions!

Next time you REALLY should make some big bold glossy prints of your best work and sell them in the art show...

Actually, I did supply a color photo printer but I don't think it saw any use.

pity... I can imagine fur-bearing varmints going crazy for Peggy-art! Of course, table-side printing on demand sends a slightly different 'aura' than posting huge prints in an art show...

Stacey printed out her SL shots for whatever but that's it. I was too damn busy doing sketches by the time it was out each day, so I never had any chance to meddle with all the tech hurdles involved!

besides, i realized i left my usb key at home. even file transfer between me and stacey's machine would've been a mess.
