Kin is on a Greyhound bus, on his way home.

We're sending obliquely silly text messages back and forth. Half of my communications are taking the form of something doodled on a Post-it note, photographed with my phone's camera, and sent with one or two words added because I really haven't gotten used to entering text on a phone.

We're using cheap, commodity hardware to do this. Damn, I love modern technology sometimes.

He's taking a Greyhound from Seattle to Boston? Whoa, that kind of an epic journey.

I actually read The Odyssey on a GH/Amtrak trip between Grand Rapids and Philadelphia. There were a lot of parallels, except I don't remember what the sirens mapped over to in Detroit.

Wish them luck. - And I suggest using GoogleMaps to find him/her/hir/them someplace to eat/sit that isn't the terminal for long layovers: It's the only thing that made my six hour layover in Pittsburgh bearable.

My cell phone has no particular frills, but it was free with the service contract, and does everything I want it to do, and then some. I'm super-slow at entering text, but then again I don't text-message anyone.

Technology marches on: I saw a pandemic employee on the elevator with a 2GB flash MP3 player the shape of a small cube maybe an inch to a side. It even had a display screen.
