Browsing art-related message boards. So many topics are "how do I do this?" "how do I do that?" "how do I do this?".
And half the time the same two answers apply: RTFM, or Analyze Photo Reference.
And I keep being a helpful, wise, nice person and either telling the person what feature they want to use, or repeating "use photo ref". I don't usually go so far as to hunt down photo ref, as people are likely to do on the Yerf how-to board.
After a while, though, I just want to smack some of these people and say "Look at the other damn posts some, the same damn question just got worked to death in another thread! And no, I won't give you a link - do some fucking research, you funktard!"
The other half of the questions usually are answered in one word: "Practice".
Why do I keep replying to these sorts of threads?
Maybe I need to persuade the people who run these various boards to add hooks for this to 'em and at least get some proto-Whuffie out of it.

And although Illustrator still makes me goes "What the- DAMN YOU!! *smack smack smack*" Your illustrator tutorial from VCL helped me a lot too, until I gave up.
See I'm grateful! I appreciate you! Especially when I think photoshop can't make proper transparencies and then you tell me how it can and I feel like a tool.

Plus we love you.
Plus how do you convert paths to vectors?
Just kidding. Have a hermit. It's made with chocolate chips and stuff.

2. Smash the monitor screen with your bare fist.
3. Get on the floor and run in circles like Curly. Going 'Woowhoowoowoowoo!' is optional.
4. Head + traintrack = vector success!

Date: 2003-01-29 10:40 pm (UTC)Someday I need to see what happens if I trace over one of my own drawings with ballpoint and crayon. It would be great for confusing people.
