Huh. The bleach completely sucked out the blue, but left some of the yellow and pinkish. Might be that those two colors were in deeper, since they'd been on more than a couple of days.

I think I was almost platinum blonde. Depending on how the light hit my hair, it was nearly colorless. I've been thinking of trying that for a long time but never quite had the guts to bleach it hard enough.



I just felt an urge to document the time I was Almost Platinum Blonde. It's in the past already; my hair's full of good ol' Atomic Pink again. I might add in something else. I'm still thinking. But pink is simple and wears well on me. I also wanted to tease people with a hint of my boobs.

ye gods, I need to pluck my eyebrows down.

Urf. I did mention that bleach was a bit on the strong side. Hope your hair is alright. I think mine is alittle friend from it (but should recover so long as I keep being extra nice to it)

I've used 40vol before. It's been stretchy and gummy. That's when you've gone too far. This is fine!

Yeah, I was going to say, you just bleached your hair, so be careful this time around. The one time I used a 'light' bleach to remove color, my hair went all brittle and the ends started breaking off.

It kinda felt like it was on the edge of that, but not quite. I bleached yesternight and went to bed after rinsing it out, so it's had some time to relax... I got a few bits fluttering off, but not very much. I stopped once my scalp really started aching, you see.

When I did what I did in this icon, I had to leave the peroxide in for an entire hour. My hair was straw, I had to use three different conditioners every day to even be able to comb it O_O

One thing that's good is putting a disposable shower cap over your hair when bleaching. It keeps in the moisture and makes the bleaching faster and more even so you don't have to keep it in as long. (you can reuse the cap, too)

We did this with mine, but it still took a whole hour O_O. My hair isn't that dark, but it was resilient as hell to being bleached.

I'm not really sure if it is or not. It used to be according to my barbers and what not, but they stopped saying that around 22.

As a result I'm taking propecia too, just to be sure heh.

Oh, and another thing to do is let your hair get a little oily before you bleach, like not wash it for at least a day. The oil and dead skin layer will keep the bleach from burning you quite so much. If you bleach right after you wash then it's going to burn your fucking scalp off.

Mmm. I should try that, though I rarely plan THAT far ahead for hair stuff. I usually feel nasty in the morning until I shower... though today I got up and went from bed with bleached-out hair to kneading pink in, without a shower. I figure my hair should be *hungry* for gook right now.

Actually, I feel like it needs a little bit of trimming. The bangs are getting long and you can't see my earlobes.

There's a few reasons I don't like it long any more. The first one is economics: it takes a lot less hair dye to do hair this short. I can get about three goes out of one bottle, as opposed to using up most of a bottle when I had long hair.

The second one is, well, I feel like it frames my face better. When I have it long it accentuates the rectilinearness of my chin and makes me look male - maybe not as much to other people, but it does tome, and that counts for a lot in how I act.

And the third is that I like the flapper look! I imprinted on Edward Gorey's art when I was eight or so, and I think short hair can be quite elegant and glamorous!

Yes - Atomic Pink is one of the colors that fluoresces well, and my hair is full of the stuff right now. I need to find an excuse to be under a blacklight while it's fresh.

I once tried bleaching my long hair and giving myself a very dark jet like black dye to make a sort of skunk effect, pity I had to bunch up my hair for it to show properly. eh... I miss my long hair, but not all the problems that came from having waaaay long hair.

I don't miss having long hair. Just for the bleaching and dying hassles alone. (See above for more details).

Sometimes I miss it a little; it makes for a nice accent in a drawing... but it just took so much time to deal with.
