(initially scrawled in my sketchbook)

So here I am in the SF Bay Area. A day later than we intended because of the immense amouts of crap Ashy and I both have, and my slow packing, but we're here. And I feel very unsure of myself.

Names to learn. Last night's movie expedition ("Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow", a beautifully-done homage to the 30's adventure serials, soft-focus and shallow characters and all - but can we maybe call a moratorium on Nazi villains for a while? Total cheese, plot holes galore of course. It kinda got to be Too Silly when they ended up in the Lost World - just about every B&W adventure movie cliche is in there) involved eight people of various (and varying) genders, only four of whom I had names for - including myself. From what was said at one point, only one of these eight may have had their birth and current gender match - quite a shock to my system after all these years in very straight, very Armenian Glendale.

And there will be other names to learn, too - more of [livejournal.com profile] dv_girl and [livejournal.com profile] centauress' circle, a bit of [livejournal.com profile] nerfcoyote's because Ashy will be staying at his place for a while (and I'll certainly be visiting), [livejournal.com profile] kattything's circles, [livejournal.com profile] tugrik's... there's certainly overlap, given that everyone I know up here at the moment has something to do with the furry thing, but it's still gonna be a lot of names to cram into a brain as disorganized and social-unpracticed as mine.

One of the people here last night was wearing a Puzzlebox shirt, but didn't really identify xerself to me despite me using Twin's habitual greeting upon seeing the shirt - xe might not actually be on yet, for all I know, and was fairly quiet. I'll learn more, I'm sure.

"Ponies don't belong on heads... jellyfish do!"

I still need to have gas, power, and phone shut off in the Glendale apartment.

I need to call my mother and let her know I'm alright.

I need to get my computer set up and make major progress on the COG album cover. I was hoping to have it done last week but, well, packing ate my head.

I need to get started on the stuff for Renegade. This pretty much also requires functioning computer and net.

I need to unpack enough to start things.

And I need to enjoy my new home. Home at least for the next few months. Ashy wasn't born or raised in the Bay Area but considers it to be home. Will I? it's too early to tell.

but can we maybe call a moratorium on Nazi villains for a while?

Or rather on German villains, as Nazi Berlin was shown among the victims of the giant robot attacks.

And that's when Hitler finally snapped...

I guess I'm just overloaded on Evil German Masterminds. How about some, I dunno, megalomaniac Gauls or something for a change?

Good to hear you're situated!

...just saw it tonight... I think Jeannine's favorite moment was the flash of a Japanese newspaper that appeared to show Tokyo was being menaced by what looked like Godzilla!

Enjoyable art, despite the obvious confusion the actors desperately groping for context in front of the blue screen...

Now, all of a sudden, I have it in mind to have some character on PBX that thinks the Mess is a theme park, complete with rides and shows, and treats the natives like fursuit-wearing entertainers. Xe's probably got a Puzzlebox t-shirt, Burmuda shorts, shoes, and some kind of hat with head-flanges designed to resemble Twin. Or maybe a plush Serpent. Everything that happens on the Mess to everyone is is just part of the show.

I love that concept!!!! You could also have a swarm of noisy children following him around and don't forget a stripe of zinc oxide on his nose just for class! ^_^

Then again, maybe he thinks he's in Vegas.

Wasn't there some on and off discussion of making a 'theme park' version of PB to let the guests into more freely? hee.

Twin-flanges cap, plush Serpent, and a vial of candy that makes it look like they're drooling Strangevirus...

Not very likely, but will you need help unpacking or hauling stuff?

Unpacking will go on for days. I plan to get the essentials out once it's really sure where my machine/sleeping will be - probably the garage, maybe other parts of the place - but I also plan to regularly spend time just opening up a box, going through it, and repeatedly saying "do I need this object"?

One of the boxes that I'm pretty sure will be repeatedly "yes" is the one with exacty ten years of sketchbooks...

Funny how that process always happens after a move.

"Aaaugh, that sucked! I'm throwing everything out!"

It was helping other folks move that taught me to edit before I was going to schlep it crosscountry...

Yeah. I did try to throw some stuff out during the packing, but there was just no time to do it right... well, okay, I slacked, too. but still. DAMN I have too much STUFF and I don't NEED it all!

It's finding boxes you haven't really been in since the last time you moved, four years back, that really makes you want to ditch stuff. But some you can't quite because of sentimental value, and I have some thoughts on that that'll probably turn into an LJ entry once I have my own machine set up.

The mystery person was Louvre on FurryMUCK AKA Julia on Altered Realities. I don't know what name she goes by on Puzzlebox, if any.

Sorry if you feel like you've wandered into a mad house. :)

I'd almost rather not know!

Maybe.

The mystery's the fnu of it, sometimes, you know?

I hear she dropped by today with intent to hint and tease but I was out saying hello to Ashy's hosts.

No, I'm just over-stimulated right now. In one week I went from moping around LA with little human contact besides Ashy to... a tense packing and drive to a pretty new cuty, and shortly thereafter six new faces, two of which I met briefly at FC a couple years back, one of those who I've had some on and off VR interaction with. I just have too much stuff to try and process at once!

Well, damn...if I lived in the Bay Area still I'd have to meet you or something. :-} I know of at least one other PBXer whom I've met before that lives down there somewhere. Induction-Coil, specifically.

I'm now up in Portland, Oregon area, so I have no idea if there's any up here on PB. Bwah.

Congrats on the move, though. And the suddenly expanded social-groups. Hope it's not overwhelming!

Just left? Well, no, I've been up here over a year. But I grew up down there! :-P
Oh, yeah, EngineSkye? I vaguely remember that...not that I ever see her on. :-}

I skid rapidly between neophilia and neophobia, right now. That and needing to get some work done. Life is chaos right now!

I think you overlap enough of the people I know that I'll run into you within a couple weeks...

Yes, I am. I'm still looking for computer desk bits - I think know that it's in one of the last four or five boxes I packed, but, um.... It'll be a project. Still guest-using Sammi's machine.

You should check your e-mail. I think I figured out part of why I got so worked up abou saying goodbye...

I predict you will love, love love it there. It's beautiful, it's open-minded, the WATER is always nearby, there are more then two kinds of people walking around(as in L.A.: Haves and Have-nots)...and the whole environment yodels "ART"! all the time. : ) Enjoy!

I just like the larger amounts of green everywhere. LA's a concrete desert, and trees casually lined along the middle of the street are something you don't realize you miss until you have them back.

Oh, my, you moved up here already... I'm still settling in myself; I wish I'd known you were here already so I could offer to help unpack and such too. Have fun here, hopefully I'll run into you sometime, too; I'm still haivng to slowyl learn how to be social here myself.
