This is very very cool. In exactly the same way the game "Rez" was cool. Except in about 4k of code and data. Also this.

These are a couple of demos I just watched and was mildly enthralled by; I thought I'd share, since they've got versions for everyone's machine.

Old commenting, I know, but good luck with finding Rez *anywhere*. Excepting of course online sources, half.com or ebay being the best bet. And it's out of print for both the PS2 and the Dreamcast, so it still costs around $50 or so if you're lucky.

I played the game only once at a convention, and got addicted. Bought it without even owning a PS2.

So, yeah...might be better off with the downloaded copy.

"4K" but requiring SDL is kind of cheating if you ask me, but then I haven't followed the PC demo scene since the Cubic Team era.

I haven't really followed demos since I stopped using the Amiga. From what I know, the ethic in PC demos seems to be to require DirectX a lot of the time, so... needing SDL is no big deal to me.

Besides, the filesystem takes so much space nowadays that 4K's nigh-impossible anyway. If you really want to be picky. It's certainly not as cool as 4k of metal-banging... or at least not cool in the same way.

You can get 4K cluster sizes in most modern filesystems, I think. NTFS even defaulted to 512-byte clusters on my laptop's 3.9GB drive.

Keep an eye on Jeff (Llamasoft (http://www.llamasoft.co.uk)) Minter's Unity (http://www.lionhead.com/unity/).

Yeah. His blog is probably a better place for that - I must admit I'm still not completely sure what kind of game Unity is. Knowing Minter I can probably guess "trippy" and "shooting".

You should go to www.yakyak.org and look for information about an upcoming game called "Unity"

Ahh, my poor old iMac 333. :"D Cool demo, though, and I bought Rez because it was so different and SO it's own universe. Damn thing crashes my memory card, though...
