Images and words began collecting in my head. So I did an impromptu comic. I had about the first three panels in some loose form when I started; the rest was improvised.

Media: Cheap marker, brush and India ink (mostly for filling in black). Took me, I dunno, 3-4 hours plus scanning and stitching and a little bit of digital cleanup?

If you can get your browser wide enough, viewing these images side by side rather than one above the other is recommended.

I love the sets of vertical things: the Aspects in the first half and the four little panels in the second half.

This is instantly my favorite of your postings (though I'll admit a bias towards comics and especially black-and-white pieces)

I love your drawing style... and your coding style isn't bad either :)

hee. I draw a lot better than I code. Notice how much more art I do than programming.

Awesome as always.

Quite beautiful and necessary. This style would easily read well as an entire, long work. Have you thought about taking on Scott McLeod's 24 hour comic challenge? Having worked in the comics industry for a long time, all I can say is how refreshing it always is to see something as sincere as this.

Many times. I've wanted to do it ever since I ran across the concept. I kinda thought of trying to pile up more pages on this, but I think these two said all I wanted to say on the subject, at least immediately. It just fell out of my head onto the paper.

This style would easily read well as an entire, long work.

I have a few things floating in the back of my head that would get done this way. Drowning City, unfortunately, demands a more painterly approach, so that's a lot bigger to get started on... this is definitely good for fast stuff, though, and I might be doing some more while I'm stuck offline. sigh

This is superficial of me - there's still a little Howarth in the style, but not much. I really like the look and think it would be a good style to pull from if you work up The Drowning City or anything else.

I looked at it when I was done and said "Hmmm. Matt Howarth plus Mike Mignola plus Carol Lay. What a combination."

My art is weird sometimes.

I think I really like everything except the last image and it could be I don't like that one just because I've seen 9,000 versions of it in various anime shows so it sort of jars me out of the mood of the rest of the piece and makes me feel like I'm going to encounter fanboys at a convention ranting about the Peganthyrus Project. O_O

...I wouldn't really mind having hordes of fanboys ranting about my stuff at a con, to be honest.

But yes, the last panel needed more straight and less swirl.

Totally experimental inking, actually. I pulled out the #2 W&N brush for the first time in years, intending at first to use it just for filling in black (yes, I could have used PS after scanning, but I needed to see the weight of the black since I was doing this with no pre-planning), then used it for hair and stuff as well.

I've forgotten most of the tricks I laboriously picked up about inking over the years... I think this is really the better for that. Spontaneity is strength.

Dreamlike, but like no dream I've ever had. Full of potential and left hanging.. I don't know if that impresses or frustrates me.

Pretty and flowy lines you want to follow to the ends of the Earth; where do they lead?

And yes, I see myself in this.

This seems to describe a lot of my life, to be honest.

No, wait, I do actually have actual content to say. -:) Certain unnamed individuals have been expressing a desire to go out and perform certain socially unacceptable actions as an assertion of cultural power against certain disinterested parties... Um, how would you feel if we printed out a bunch of this comic at poster size and wheatpasted it to various public areas that deserve defacement? We promise to choose our targets responsibly. -:)

I'm not sure that this would be much of an act of political comment. Although creating confusion is always worthwhile.

If you do this, you have to take photos!
