Using someone else's computer, when it has been lovingly customized away from the defaults, is like wearing someone else's dirty underwear. There's just this itchy feeling of wrongness at the back of your head.

When it's the default setup of a mostly-uncustomized installation, that's fine. But when there's all kinds of little programs adding this functionality or that... *shudder*

Staying Pictures and Tom Thumb. Strange little depressing pieces of 3D art, done from a demo-coder perspective (by a guy who works at Peter Molyneux's Lionhead Studios). The cool thing about these two pieces is that large portions of them are calculated upon 'performance', in realtime in the case of 'Staying Pictures' ('Tom Thumb' has lots of post-render video effects applied). Unfortunately you have to take his word for it, as he doesn't have executables you could download and run on your machine a few times to see different incarnations. Well, he does have the full source for TT, if you're quite insane.

(On the subject of Lionhead and trippy generative visuals, I'm still waiting to see what Jeff Minter's Unity is going to be like!)

Damnit! Why are all of my shirts these huge baggy XL tents? I want something that'll actually conform to my body and look good, instead of a fucking shapeless sack! All I have handy is one old ratty old blue pocket tee with a hole right next to a nipple.

I need to go shopping tomorrow. I know the crafts store can be a decent source for cheap solid-color tees... time for a break from wearing icons. Haircut and shopping. Yes.

So I get this e-mail a little earlier today from someone offering their services as a life model for next MFF. Which is cool, I suppose. Life drawing is always good. Except I've never been to MFF, and may never - I'd like to, since it's a handy local con for certain people I'd love to see more often, but it's not like i can afford travel right now.

They said a friend of theirs on Furry said I was the person to ask; said person claimed they got that impression from something in [livejournal.com profile] jenwolf's LJ. I went and looked and couldn't see anything that'd lead me to believe that.

Anyway, just in case this is actually a rumor that's going around that I haven't been clued in to, rather than a one-time bit of confusion, I am not involved with MFF in any capacity, as panelist, admin, or attendee. Judging from this entry it sounds like [livejournal.com profile] pseudomanitou may be running such a panel, but don't take my word on it. It also sounds like Jen is definitely the person to contact if you want to stand still while a bunch of people try to draw you.

[ More weirdness: I got a comment notification on a three-month old dream entry just now, from someone trolling for a code. On one from three months ago? What the hell? It was a cool dream to be reminded of, at least. ]
