1 lot of hair, mixed pink/purple/black, assorted lengths up to 2".

It's going to feel so strange to have wind on the back of my neck; I don't think I've felt that since the summer of '95, when I shaved my head.

There may be photos, but first I definitely need to bleach the black out and make it all pink again.

How well does the pink stay in your hair? This blue in mine's fading quite a bit.

Blue hair dye sticks amazingly well to everything. Except actual hair. It fades really quickly in hair. Even if you protect it from the sun. It's really, really fugitive.

Care to tell that to *my* hair? When I was in 7th grade, I used a wash-in/wash-out blue hair dye. This over black/dark-brown hair. I had blue hair for 3 months. In South Texas. In summer. Just in time for marching band camp at Kelly Air Force Base. Thank goodness my hair grows quickly & I was able to get away with a really short bob for 8th grade.

*blink* Wow. I want to know what kind of dye that was. Part of why I decided blue is not a good hair color for me is the constant need for re-dying to look good!

Admittedly, I've never tried to see how long it takes to just go away; when the dye in my hair starts to fade, that's my cue to slop more dye atop it. My hair hasn't been it's natural color for the past, ummm, year and a half I think. (I can no longer remember when I made the leap from bleaching and coloring a streak down the side to coloring it all.)

I graduated HS in 85 & the hair dye incident was summer between 7th & 8th grades. I used a cheap, drugstore brand temporary dye that was supposed to come out when you washed your hair.

It didn't fade over the 3 months of summer, my hair just grew enough that I was able to cut the necessary length off entirely. (my hair grows about 2 inches per month, 4 times the average)

My current hairdresser thinks it's fun to color my hair, as the permanent dye that he uses will draw up the hairshaft as my hair grows. This means that there is no real demarkation of natural vs. colored hair. It also means that color that was supposed to last for 3 months ended up lasting for 14 months.

Out of curiousity, ever think you'd shave your head again?

Probably not. It was worth doing once; I think that everyone should shave their head and dye their hair an unnatural color at least once in their life (not in direct sequence, though it could work the other way around) to see if it works on them.

But I just can't see myself as a cueball again.

Having grown up around the Air Force's training base, I respectfully beg to differ with you on this one. Some people should NEVER have their heads shaved. Really. I've seen proof.

But that's sort of my point. I think I'm in the category of people who should not be baldies. But because I shaved my head a few years ago, I know this for a fact!
