You might or might not remember the tattoo I was thinking about getting after my show. I was never quite happy with it as black wings, so it sat, and then near the beginning of this year I started playing with turning it into a multicolor thing instead.

On the plane back from Seattle, I think I finally got something that makes me happy.

I will have to consult with a few tattooists to find one who I think can make this work, and to see if anything resembling yellow that intense is actually possible - there may have to be one more round of revisions before this goes on my body! But it's something I intend to start working on in the next few months, once we get to Seattle. I really feel, at this point, like it would be a bad idea to stick a huge load of Boston ink in my body just as I'm about to leave.

Then I ran my laptop's battery down playing a video game for a while. And switched to the sketchbook.

Well, Absinthe approves of our planned new location.

Black-n-blue water dragoness doodling. Kinda orca-y.

Dragon and vixen mermaids. Or sirens. Probably the latter, given the dragon in question.

Nice design! Prismatic is very Peggy. Tattoo colors tend to be pretty restrained but most variations on the motif should turn out rather well. I've been pondering tattoos ever since I got disposable income. The first choice is obvious but the second choice...I felt like my favorite Arcana might be too tacky for ink.

On my hierarchy of aesthetic preferences, UNFAIRLY biased toward invertebrates, aquatics and birds are tied snugly on the third tier, topped only by insects at first and non-insect invertebrates at second. So I offer a timid grin of approval.

I like the tattoo idea. If it can be done so that it looks that etherial, it will be lovely.

Very good: if you want to look conservative, wear a medium-sleeve shirt.

You should also see how the tattoo would look when your arms aren't spread out. Find someone to draw it on you, then take photos in several position.

I did that already with the original black-only design. Lived with it on my skin for a few days as the ink faded, even. It was pretty nice.

That tattoo concept looks great! Seattle is blessed with a lot of good tattoo artists and even if you can't find someone you like here it's not out of the question to take a trip to California to one of the great artists down there.

I'll be trying out a "new" (actually ancient) temporary tattoo method. It only makes a blue-black stain but it might be a good way to try out some ideas!

Randomly, I am a derpface and have no idea who the good California artists are, but this is relevant to my interests. Do you have recommendations?

Have you considered UV inks as well? I've a few friends who have had it done to enhance their tats.

One of my original lines of thought to snazz up the B&W version was UV. I see varying opinions on the safety of that, though. And I'm not sure I spend enough time under UV for it to be a good idea - I want something that's always on display and proclaiming my unemployability at menial jobs.

Actually, if you take this colored design, and then drop in a little UV under the other colors (or in a few open spots)... like running lights, perhaps?

Maybe you could turn this into a stencil and use paint and non tattoo inks. Sort of a temporary bit of skin art you can tailor for any occasion. Without the neon colors, I don't think it would work as well. As it is, the design is totally boss.

Gosh! You make me want to draw slinky mer-things. Mer-furs (boy that sounds phonetically awful) are yet unexplored territory, but seem pretty NEAT. |3

Looks really nice, although I think the B&W version stands out more. The bright colors are nice, but don't get quite as good contrast with your skin. Actual inks may well work better and look awesome, though.

Also, I /love/ your hair.

The photo's from two years ago when I started working on this. Right now it's a lot more faded. And longer. I really should get some bleach and give it a good solid dying sometime soon...

So its a stock "This is my back, now where am I putting the ink?" photo? Nice! :D

Are you still planning on doing the tail, etc? If you can pull the colors off I think that part especially would look really good with it.

Kindasorta, I took it a couple years ago for the first incarnation of this tattoo! I've kinda dropped the tail because I was never quite happy with it; once I get the wings I'll see what I feel like doing it. I keep on thinking of having it coil around a leg, kinda like I did on the Queen of Pentacles...

One of my co-workers has recommended a few of the high quality tattoo shops. They may have a waiting list of a few months, but it is often worth the wait. (Am starting to shop around for an artist for my own backpiece you see....)
