I didn't start getting those until after my friend Jym went to work in Nigeria. I had to give Jym a stern talking to about giving my email out to rich Nigerian princes while he was abroad.
I got a real sleazy email on Friday claiming to be PayPal. They wanted me to visit some URL (a real URL on www.paypal.com!) for a "periodic account verification". It sounded unusual, so I checked the headers, and it turns out the email came from some host in .lt (Lithuania).
I guess the latest scam is to create new accounts, then try to bait people into entering in their bank info. This is scarily clever, because it almost caught me. :(
