Direct brain-interface lets monkeys work around paralyzed muscles. Their intent is to work around things like spinal injuries, but I think you can guess where I'm imagining this going.

Our brains are expandable.

I highly suggest not going early adopter on this sort of thing. You really don't want your brain blue screening. ;)

I have noted in the past how the "netrunning" aspects of the cyberpunk genre fell out of favor as the Public At Large became ever-more familiar with real computers, and the notion of running Microsoft CP (for "CyberPunk", obviously) on your own personal wetware became less and less enticing.

Personally I think Linux would be even worse. At least you can solve most problems with MS by rebooting, Linux you'd need to be able to access another system to go online and get support while your brain is out of action

I want one of those and an extra pair of arms. I wonder how much training it would take meanwhile to learn to store and retrieve memories on a solid state device with an electrode in another part of the brain.

I probably wouldn't go for an implant, but I probably would try a dermal sensor patch linked to some extra limbs.

I can foresee furries and Otherkin attempting to add brain-guided tails and other limbs in their attempts at self-expression.

The folks over at the Erotic Mind Control forums are probably already excited about this.

I wonder when cranial heat sinks will hit the market.

I want a good Hindbrain processor, something I can run some background software on to accentuate my daily living, driving, body diagnostics and normalization, memory storage and recording...

There's lots you can do with proper wetware, I might not be first in line, but would give it a good looksie over once things normalize.

btw: Any wetware I do will have no metal connections, only optical links. I won't get fried by anything accidental or intentional.
