Funeral's done. No drama about the gender stuff there, thankfully.

The longest part was the Catholic Mass. Damn but religion takes a while to happen. I kept on being faintly paranoid that there would be censure for me being right at the front and not participating beyond standing and sitting when everyone else did; I'm not any flavor of Christian. Stand up, sit down. Stand up, sit down. Repeat the programmed phases. For a while I started kinda dissecting it from a NLP perspective, but it just kept on going.

Mina is in the ground and I managed to get through an experience that feels designed to try and make you miserable while still being pretty perky. Hooray!

We got donuts on the way back. And then I opened up my email to find someone saying that my Tarot deck looks like "something Shag / Foglio would draw after a night out drinking with Alan Moore", which made me laugh and smile. I can get back to them soon, too!

I've been to several flavors of Protestant services (including ones with communion and ones in a tent (and the people dressed casually (and I got to wear my leather hat))) but never Catholic, naturally. I think my family are allergic to Catholics. :)

I'm a little curious myself, but I can never sit through an entire service comfortably. Even if I try to enjoy it as a sociologist I end up squirming in my seat by the halfway point just wishing it would end. I hear from friends that in primarily African American churches the services can go on for hours... I would die!
