(related to a comic idea Nick and I have been kicking around this past week; more later when I scan the half-a-sketchbook filled up with doodles and designs.)

Also, here's what I did in [livejournal.com profile] klandagi's book at FC.

Pardon my terrible scanning skills and don't get me started on piecing things together properly lol XD

That came out so kickass tho <3 *smewch*

No problem. Piecing things together is a pain, especially when it goes across the page gutter. Which I do all the damn time now. These days I usually just smooth out the blank space as much as I can, and make sure all the lines feel right continuing across the gap.

I'm glad you liked it; I kinda wandered off into my own crazy thing there!

Indeed. I wish I had a scanner that had a lot more surface area. Looks great though!

Haha, no problem! I really love when artists do just whatever they want, regardless. It's much more fun for the artist ;)

Crazy = good (most of the time lol)! It's way more fun :D

No no no! No other comic ideas! Drowning City! *pokepoke* There. My good deed for the day. :"D The sketchbook pic is very cool, though. Great clouds.

This is a comic I can get wrong in the telling. Drowning City is locked up behind Having To Do It Right.

I can't render an intelligent comment at this hour, so bear with me.

I thought the color change in the comic was amusing and effective. I think I get why it's there.

Also, I'm not sure if this was intended, but is that little garble of possibly-clouds supposed to look like unintelligible speech? It occupies the same space as the dialogue in the next panel, and it is kind of how things go for me when I am in deep concentration. Somebody says something, and I hear it, but I don't parse the words. I don't know. I got nothin'.

I need sleep. But please do enlighten me, so tomorrow when I am lucid enough to form a coherent thought, I will understand. :)

Also, are those space ships in the background? At first, I thought they were a different kind of clouds, and then I thought, no, they're rocks. But they look like space ships. But then I realised that I seriously need to go to bed. :(

In the two little pages of comic fragment, the possibly-clouds stuff are islands floating in the sky.

And yes, those are spaceships in the background of the big sketchbook spread.

Oh. Now I see the islands since you've mentioned them. Thanks for clearing it up. And, sorry for my half-asleep rambling. :D

You sure don't shortchange a sketch commission!

It went pretty quickly, really. I do stuff like this fast nowadays. And swirling clouds filled in with a black Prismacolor go real fast.

I keep thinking I should be charging more, though; a lot of what I did at FC felt more like about $30-40 worth of work than $20.

Raise your prices a little, and see what business you get. $23 isn't too much more, right?

Fnord!

(From a cash-handling standpoint, $23 is arguably creating more work - I'd have to be able to give out $7 or $17 in change [depending if I was paid in a ten and a twenty, or two twenties] to most people!)

Get a handful of $2 bills, perhaps? That'd make handling primes a bit easier, anyway.
