I find myself oddly tempted to follow the directions on this site. I dunno if I could stomach all the corn syrup that'd be involved in this any more, after drinking "sugar-free" sodas for the past several years. But still! JOSTA! The weird purply drink that was the first one with guarana! A precursor to all those vile-tasting 'energy drinks' sold in the tall, thin, pricey cans. Except not vile. It was funky and just plain weird. And tasty.

Or at least I convinced myself it was, back then...

Oh wow. I loved Josta when it was around [yeesh, I was in highschool at that time!]. I only remember it so much because everyone in our clique called it 'panther piss' and wouldn't touch it. I thought it was a darn good soda!

Though I also don't drink soda nearly as often anymore.

I don't know why the hell they took it off the market. Everyone who remembers it seems to remember it pretty damn fondly! Even though you could pretty much ONLY ever get it in 20oz bottles. But it wasn't doing whatever they wanted it to do, so it went.

The rule at Pepsi back in the day was that if a product didn't sell seventyfivebajillion bottles in its first year, it was gone. No niche products for Pepsi! No no no!

Crystal Pepsi was a damned good product, too.

This explains the disappearance of probably pretty much any Interesting Soda that came out as a result of Coke or Pepsi trying to diversify past market saturation.

This also explains the somewhat similar flavor feel, and mysterious vanishment, of Mister Green a few years later. I flirted with it, introduced it to Ashy who fell in love with it, and was disappointed when it just kinda... vanished.

Mmmm . . . Josta.

You wouldn't happen to remember OK Cola as well, would you? That shit was awesome.

I never actually ran into that. Its deliberately-ironic marketing kinda turned me off...

*Frumple* is round, yet lumpy. So bad!
SC2 is like the drug culture, it's a lot more widespread than you think. :)

The second one is, if anything, even more awesome, and is also now free and open source. You may want to block off a couple of months. :)

Fun Fact: The reason why 99% of energy drinks taste like ass is because of the addition of Taurine and higher then sane levels of B-complex vitamins.

Honestly, this is no surprise. Everything sold in America seems to be about TOO MUCH OF A GOOD THING. Let's give you 700 TIMES MORE TAURINE AND B VITAMINS THAN YOU COULD EVER NEED!

It's insane the level of vitamins they just pump into everything. You do not require over 1000% of your daily recommended amount of vitamin C. Ever.

All 1000% of the RDA will do for you is turn your pee extremely bright yellow. This is a case where Linus Pauling was wrong.

I'm not sure I could tolerate all the corn syrup that was probably in it any more, but that was good stuff. I miss it still!

Josta got me through hard times when working at the Borders corporate offices.

Seriously, to hell with coffee or Jolt or whatever. Something about Josta meant I could drink a can, and instead of getting some lousy energy spike and then a valley that could turn a hyperactive ferret into a dozing, limp tube-rat, I just got eight solid hours of awareness. Then it slowly fell off, and it was like I hadn't done anything odd at all. I wondered at one point if I could comfortably stay up for a day straight just by chaining three of them. I quickly decided that despite loving the flavour of it, I wouldn't drink it all the time... only when needed. It was medicinal, but wonderful.

And then the pop with the panther on it disappeared, and it became trendy to mock it mercilessly. Ennh, fuck 'em all.

Wow. Josta. Damn, it was the only soda other than Root Beer I really liked.

I miss that stuff.

Not that I drink soda all that much, anyways.
