I was watching Rik play a cute little Choplifter clone just now. He died, and it threw up the high score table - which was completely owned by "BUG".
Which is, of course, what he's been putting in games since he was a kid.
Me, I used to use my initials* - "PCT". At some point I wallowed in the depths of being a goddamned furry and started using "FUR". I am somewhat embarassed by this now. These days I tend to put in "PEG".
What's your high-scoreism? And why? Are you lucky enough to have a three-letter first name?
* the ones I was given when I was born; if I did that now it'd be "MET"...

Date: 2007-01-25 03:12 am (UTC)Yeah, used to be short for Xavier, because I thought I was cool using that for a character name. Because it starts with X, and we all know that X is XXXTREME. But over time I realised that, while Xav was a pretty nifty nickname, what it was short for was not so cool any more. So I dropped the -ier for ever.
I still go by Xav with people who don't know about my queerness, and I imagine it's still pretty cool. To me. If I were going to be male, I'd use it. And it's definitely a handy high score name, because my actual initials (BLS) are terrible. It's a shame ERIS doesn't fit, though!
There's my life story.

Date: 2007-01-25 04:47 am (UTC)In PC games that have longer slots, I usually label a really high score like 'WTF', or 'aaaaaaaahhhh'.
Rez, however, I score as CB and then some random punctuation. :-}

Date: 2007-01-25 07:58 am (UTC)Until about 1987, I used EAB.
Which, actually, does not include my middle initial.
I have an hyphenated first name, you see. :D
From '87 to '93, I used ZEN, from Zenobot, my BBS and GEnie handle.
From '93 onwards, it's ZS_ or Z-S for Zrath-Smiley.
WLF here.

Hi-Score!
Date: 2007-01-25 09:09 am (UTC)If I get more space (ex: 3-D Pinball that came with this computer), I put in "Chella_DATE-YEAR". Ex: "Chella_Jan24-2007" - And since I rarely play some games, putting in the date/year of the high score gives me something to compete against for lack of another player. Apparently, my self from several years ago had patience out the wazoo because I've got some wicked scores (at least in comparison to what I get now) that I can't beat now. :c

Date: 2007-01-25 11:13 pm (UTC)No, it's based on a previous nickname and munged some for style. Mainly, I like the sound of LeDiva over any other vowel in-between the L and the D. And I'm generally goofy for InTerCapping.
I mean, I totally get why people try to parse it, but I swear, it's just meant to be a name. :)
