Most of the digital art tools I use these days want to snap their toolbars to the edges of the screen, or the edges of other windows.

Why is it, however, that all of them want to snap them to about 3-4 pixels away from the edge of the screen? Yes, I want to have this functionally-huge button that takes me out of the project and puts me into... whatever else happens to be down there, probably the Finder. Haven't these folks heard of Fitts' Law?

Well... I haven't, which is sad considering I design GUI's.

However, I've read a lot of useability articles, and am familiar with the design practices that have grown out of an understanding of that law.

I hate both the auto-hide feature of the Window's taskbar, and the loss of screen real estate that happens when that isn't turned on.

Yeah, I have similar issues with OSX's Dock. I'd had it on the right side of my screen for a while but I kept on changing programs instead of frobbing scrollbars of windows on the right.
