bad dream

Last night I had a dream where Rik died.

I can't remember enough of the details to feel like they're worth trying to write down now, and I think I'm glad. It was a sudden, quiet, and unexpected death. And soon after Kin and I started arguing and it felt like things were falling apart between us.

I was really glad when I woke up and Rik was there in bed next to me. I poked him a bit until he made a noise, to make sure he was alive.

I almost never dream about real people. Most of the other people in the dream were dream characters. I've never had a dream like this before. I hope I never do again.

Yeah. I'm still kinda mopey, and the rain outside isn't helping at all... maybe I should get dressed, grab my umbrella, and go out to do something silly.

I've had dreams like that about my kids, too. I always have to go check on them and poke them a little and give them hugs afterwards.

Scary stuff. I think it just means you have Something To Lose, which is both good and bad, in a sense.

I've had nothing to lose. It's a lot better to have something to lose, I think, than to be so afraid of losing something that you never look for it in the first place.
