an experiment

I can't get into work mode - I keep being tempted by Shub-Internet, the Black Time-Sink of the Woods with a Thousand Distractions. So I'm shoving the laptop and Wacom tablet in a bag and going out to Diesel to work. They have wireless there, but it's several bucks an hour, so I won't be using it, which is kinda the point, right?
If anyone 'round here wants to drop by and say 'hi' and watch me snarl quietly at Flash, I'll be there for an hour or two. More if I can find a wall outlet - the battery on this refurb Powerbook needs replacing, and only gets about an hour and a half of untethered life. :p
I'm the one with the red hair, this week. It's been changing a lot lately - I still like pink hair, but I seem to be taking a break from it.
PS. wiki guide to Boston coffeeshops with free wifi.
5:50. Came back home. I think Flash's CPU hunger shortened my time out - all the tables near outlets were in use. sigh. Damn thing runs slow at full power, runs slower on reduced CPU speed. I'd swear that Flash 4 and 5 ran faster on 350-450 Mhz machines; I've had it running slower (MX was a super-slow pile of hate) but it's still barely getting the performance on a new file, with a 1.25Ghz machine doing nothing else, that it'd get when one of the little first-gen iMacs at Spümcø would fall to when we were trying to assemble a whole episode into one file. If I'm a good girl and get one of these emoticon packs done tonight/tomorrow, I may try this again and see what kind of results I get using AI untethered.
On the bright side I came home and my hormones arrived, and there was some e-mail waiting for me with an offer for some freelance illo stuff. I really gotta do a wave of portfolio sending. I think it'd be productive.

Date: 2005-11-16 09:40 pm (UTC)There are outlets near the big couch towards the back left, and another cluster near the table to the center left. There are probably more hidden away elsewhere. The coffee beverages aren't very good, but their tea drinks are usually good and so are sandwiches and anything from their bakery. But they're usually reasonably nice if you don't buy much of anything.
