I was thinking of dissecting the pseudo-French in 'Bus to Beelzebub', but then it got to the part where Doughty just starts chanting 'Yellow number five' over and over again, until he shouts it triumphantly and the organs go crazy. Good lyrics are not necessarily about making sense.
So instead I'll give y'all a little Franglais lesson: Beaucoup. This is a word you probably picked up from watching people putting on exaggerated Cajun accents. It means, roughly, 'a lot'. It's pronounced something like 'bowkoo' or 'buku' or 'boocoo', depending on your accent, but it's spelled 'beaucoup'.

Date: 2003-01-05 11:54 am (UTC)It's a shame Soul Coughing broke up after a mere three albums. It's also a shame I've been too lazy to go check out the various projects they've been involved with afterwards.
So are you the same person who's been mailing me and a zillion other folks tangential to the world of animal-head people holiday greetings as 'YES, you do know me!'?

Date: 2003-01-05 01:15 pm (UTC)It is a shame, yes. Doughty did a track with BT a while back that I rather enjoyed. I hope to see more of that sort of thing in the future.
Actually, I have no idea who the mystery emailer is, but that's certainly not my style. It's been a few years, but does the name "Ash" ring a bell, dear?
