A few times, Sammi did something silly, and played the Voice of Los Angeles, a Raddled Old Vampire Whore of a City, Welcoming me Back.

If a city has a spirit, LA's not one it'd be wise to channel, in my opinion. It's a place fed on broken dreams and bound in concrete. It can't be a healthy thing.

I've always felt that area in general wasn't very emotionally healthy.

I've lived in the Bay Area my whole life, though, so I only can comment from afar.

It may be time for another monster to manifest itself with Los Angeles as its model?

I've always thought that LA was beautiful.

West LA... not so much. Beverly Hills? No. Hollywood? Certainly not. But downtown, eastside and outlying areas? Beautiful. It's the city of murals, of old spanish buildings and FL Wright... there's a heart and a culture there that most people don't see, when they talk about "LA".

Oddly enough, this rather strange LA-related image (http://www.snopes.com/photos/gruesome/chupacabra.asp) appeared just above your entry on my friends page. Coincidence? Well, yeah, probably.

I hate LA. Dirty, nasty, town. San Fransisco is so much better.

I found LA a little less loathesome than Dallas.

Channeling that city was probably not a good idea. I suspect you'd end up transformed into Pamela Anderson. Fortunetely, I was wearing my very best insanity armor! :)

I am so much happier with San Jose and San Francisco. From what I have seen SF has a much nicer feel than LA has for me.

A small note: when I tell people where I live, they sometimes say, "Oh! thats silicone valley?" to which I reply:

"No, thats Beverly Hills..."

What's worrisome about LA, as we know, is that it isn't immediately apparent that it's sucking your soul. Once you've been there a little while you just get used to it, and it can have its way with you without you being aware.

Souls of cities

My take on Los Angeles' soul has always been something a little reminiscent of the Phantom of the Opera.

Las Vegas, on the other hand, is Karl Rove.
