An element for a ground-up redesign of my own website - this is in the background of pages of thumbnails. Thus, the color scheme was mostly already defined; the yellow-green and red are part of the overall look of the site.

It almost looks like me for a change.

The beziér curves and control points are not a screenshot; they're complete fakery. The 'rasterize' effect came in handy here, especially as part of a few appearance styles.

(Alternate URL if the one above is being balky. The original one may work now, too. Lesson: avoid ' in filenames.)

Sweet! The strands of hair and those earrings are kickass.

That Peggy, she's so hot right now.

After multiple reloads, I can't see it, and I'm very put out. :) Artifact of moving?

Try again, or try the alternate URL I added. It originally had an ' in its name that I think was causing some problems.

I still don't know what you're doing with your strands of pixels, but nonetheless, <3 <3 <3

Oh wait. Those are Bezier curves. I should have known that, I was just farting around in 3D Studio the other night. Mistress of the Vector... that's sweet. :)

Hee! I still remember how to do quite a few cats cradles but Stacey's never done em. :)

I never learnt how.

In fact I just realized that I think the one I drew is impossible: since the string's a closed loop, wouldn't there always be an even number of strands going between the hands> And here I have five lines in the space there. I love it when I get away with things like that.

That's actually a pretty accurate self-portrait. Well done.

Very nice, especially the delicate whispiness of the hair, gentle palette and pen-like marks for the eyebrows and lashes. The cat's cradle thing feels like it's supposed to represent something, or be something that I'm not getting. I know the blockiness of the lines is done purposefully, but they don't seem to fit to me. Just a personal taste issue.

Self portraits are cool. Did one myself recently. :"D

Yeah, I was going to comment on that one but I couldn't think of much beyond "neat" and a joking "you need to shave"! (Of course, a realistic portrait of me might have that too, but I choose to leave that out.)

The cat's cradle is supposed to read as a blown-up screenshot of curves being edited in Illustrator - it's a somewhat self-indulgent bit of humor. Hello, I am Peggy, and I just loooove Illustrator.

I've been drawing myself a lot recently, roughs and finals. I think it's because I like myself a lot more now.

I'll take a "neat" anyday! And sad thing is, I had just shaved...I always look like that. :P Too much testosterone?

Thanks for the explanation on the cat's cradle. I really didn't get it as being AI at all, it looked more to me like you were making reference to older graphics, and your liking for those as you mentioned a while back in LJ. But I really like the rest of the piece. It's so soft and smooth, but not in the usual AI kinda way.

Glad to hear that the journey of self is going well for you, too! It shows, if nowhere else, in the expression of your portrait.

I like this... Alot. I think this is my favorite of everything I've seen of yours. (Though, I couldn't say why, exactly.)

But, I must agree with Kamenkyote: Something about the "faux-vector thingies" just doesn't jive. Perhaps making the lines narrower? Ever-so-slightly darker?

It's still very cool, imo.

Partially, it's that this is twice the final size - since it's "on display" I've rendered it big enough to see things like the eyelashes. At the target scale it reads better as "pixels".

Usually being too close isn't an issue with my art, but in this case it might be.

...y'know, I did this the day after Ricky visited and showed me the 1UP bible. Which also has a lot of pixels intimately overlapped with 'real' things; I may well have been halfway influenced by how cool it looked to see a cartoon character holding a blob of huge pixels.
