Just fooling around. I needed to not think about some things, so I pulled this full-page bit of randomness from the end of my recently-filled sketchbook and went into AI.

It was going to be darker, but the colors just ended up... bright. This (warning: nudity) was somewhere in the back of my mind because of the vaguely similar content (that might be a jackal I drew; I really don't know - I thought I quit drawing that furry stuff? But I still doodle it when I'm not thinking anything in particular...), but some attempts at a similar, if lazier, sky treatment via the twirl tool and some transparency didn't work.

beautiful!

Kinda reminds me of one of Lurid's characters.
I really like the color gradients.

I think the head was vaguely influenced by some of the shapes [livejournal.com profile] mercurypale uses; I've been looking at her stuff with amusement lately.

Mew! Lovely.

I'm not sure exactly what's going on in the background. It looks almost like the character set off a nuclear bomb in a city and is walking away. On my monitor, the purples are also a little light to make it really contrast with the background but I strongly suspect that is just my monitor.

On the whole, I love the composition and the character design and the overall rhythm of the background. It seems (to me) intensely violent and yet very calm at the same time.

The colors are a little on the too-close side, though they do work with each other.

The original intent was domed city, but the choice of bright yellow for the major bg color did definitely bring up the 'bomb' resonances! Which I chose to be ambiguous about. Yet another image where three's a story suggested, but the exact narrative is open to the viewer. I'm never sure if that's a weakness or a strength.

Its close enough to a jackal that I can appreciate it as that, or inspirational towards that end..! Though, on the same level, the style of landscape is very much agreeable to me.

Probably more Top than Up in setting, but it's ambiguous, as always. I'm really not sure what the figure is; the layer she's on is called "jackal?". The way the color abstraction went on her made me made me half-wonder if it was a particular jackal, ahem, but it wasn't intended as such.

Maybe a cousin. n.n

Well, it is rather ambiguous, as I could even get Down from that depending on what I want to see. And quite possibly she could be a jackal, the body shape, the tail, the ears all hint at it, though are not confined to that definition..

But I wasn't thinking it was anything in particular, except that it could be related to Puzzlebox. It could be very fitting. I used to draw similarly all the time, until I broke my thumbs in a car accident. They click now, and I can't bring myself to deal with it long enough to scrawl out much of value again. This style is something I've touched near before, though not quite the same, and I admire it quite a bit from that perspective.

Oh, ugh. I don't know what I'd do if I had physical issues with drawing. So much of my brain is probably wired up for maneuvering a pencil with my right hand by now... I wonder what all those circuits would transfer to.

And yeah, I wasn't thinking of any particular part of the Mess, but there was a definite Puzzleboxy mood in the back of my head when I drew this. Countered by the next page in my sketchbook, which is some kind of hunting fairies in the forest scene. My themes are all over these days. I just wish I could make more sense of them sometimes.

Mine used to be moreso. I had for a while considered going into architecture, as the creative aspects of it allowed me a lot of time to outright draw, and I liked the whole prospect. I spent a year as an assistant to one, even, but I can't draw as steady.. Its too much, simply, to try.

I used to try drawing with either hand, too, better with my left than my right, but then I only wrote good penmanship with my right, so I don't know what was going on.

Perhaps the circuits would transfer to some other fine manipulation.. Voice or movement otherwise.. For me, it seems to have just remained as is, but dull. Ah well, doesn't mean I can't appreciate.

.. As for the next scene, hunting fairies still could be quite puzzlebox, somewhere in charm perhaps.. ^_^

Hel-lo pick-of-the-day.

There's something about this piece that's just so serene. There's a plethora of interpretations a to what's taking place. I'm imaging just a morning walk on the outskirts of a domed city, enjoying the peace and quiet of nature as opposed to the hustle and bustle inside.

yow, I don't think I've ever seen anyone end up with two different pictures as PotD the same day. But a lot of the good stuff gets uploaded as it's done, not in spurts. This is the first time, aside from putting back-catalogue in a new gallery, thaty I've put two or more pictures up in the same day, anyway!

It wants to be a big poster, it really really does. :"D At first, I was thinking how it needed some sort of title at the top, as if it were a book cover, but it reveals itself so well when I scroll down, an effect of seeing it online, of course, but it works that way so well. Then again, all the detail below acts as an anchor for the airiness of the sky above; it's not a lack (though I bet certain web galleries would think it so), but a balance. I love how the sun, hill, planet in the back has a kind of "Little Prince" quality to it, as if it's an utterly separate sphere, but you could still walk there.

The only little catch is that forground boot. Being the same color as the fields behind it sort of yanks it backwards to me.

Good stuff!

This one might actually have enough overall detail that a certain gallery wouldn't bounce it - but they had enough chances, so they ain't getting it. I toyed with adding words... but I couldn't think of anything that felt right, and they likely would've been at the bottom. Even the title was difficult; I just opened up iTunes and scrolled through the song titles for a few minutes until the combination of a few clicked.

I might have to tweak some of the effects if I was to do a large poster; you can see how faked the blurs are (multiple transparent strokes, automatically created with the Appearance palette) in this close-up.

Although the artificiality of that might appeal. You never know. Close up the illusion breaks down, the details revealed for the fake they are, while far away it resolves into atmosphere and place... it's the kinda thing I like playing with on some levels anyway. I could argue back and forth with myself for a while.

The foreground boot... maybe. It certainly has a lot less impact than when she was floating on nothingness. But it also pulls her into the place - for a moment I just thought of making leg-wrap and near boot the sky-yellow, but realized that'd just about make the boot the focus of the image, it'd be so stark...

Domed city, nuclear glow... the way I interpret it, it doesn't matter. She's leaving that world and her old self behind. And so sure of her choice, she doesn't need to hurry. Satisfaction, finality and disdain.

The little fern-pattern on her head could represent her former culture -- an aspect of what she's leaving? The loss of individuality to Faction tattoos, and this strong jackal-woman reclaiming hers?

"Resolute" is a possible title.

That's definitely an interesting reading.

Sometimes I think my art is like a Rorsach blot - there's definitely a story there, but I don't know what it is when I draw it. And answering the question is a lot of the fascination...

I never saw the new one, I'm afraid.

I dunno if this recent stuff's any different from the norm.. just a big pile of it pent up for marketing reasons.
