This kinda put me in mind of that rock-penetrating horse [livejournal.com profile] spacehyena did a while back. Except sillier.

Note octopus girl in lower right.

I doodled this during a progress bar at work and it just keeps making me giggle every time I see it. Stormbringer's so cute! Elric's so retarded looking!

Also at work. It's hard to be an angsty exiled prince when your sword keeps making happy glee noises in the middle of your monologues. *giggle* Horrible, horrible drawing of Elric, but I like the gag.

The multiple legs are quite deliberate this time.

I don't even recognize the Elric thing, but it's still too funny. :-}

Elric's the archetypical tortured, angsty fantasy hero. He's so angsty that White Wolf, makers of fine angst-fest games like Vampire: the Masquerade and Werewolf: the Apocalypse took their name from him - one of the things he gets called is "the White Wolf", because, see, he's an albino, so he's all white, and weak, except when his evil demon sword sucks the souls of people he kills with it and gives him the energy, and he's, like, kinda psycho in battle, so, "White Wolf".

Um, I'm tired and sickly and rambly. Anyway, the books he's in are by Michael Moorcock, and they're fun, if not great literature or anything.

I am trying not to laugh. I so hard am trying not to.

It is too darn funny. It's just like him. Really!

Michael Moorcock, once quoted as saying, "if you can't write the book in a weekend, it's not worth writing." Might be true, might not. But it does sorta fit.

Loved crazy-legged boy. He's my fave!

I love Moorcock. His books aren't well written*, but they raise interesting questions. Like, "What was he smoking when he wrote this?"

*Well, he does sometimes write well-crafted literary fiction, but I've never been able to get more than ten pages into any of it. =:P

Yay!

Though the Dancers At The End Of Time series is well written and raises interesting questions. ^^

For me, the best Moorcock is "mind's eye candy"; simple, efficient plots, with lush-to-the-point-of-absurd descriptive passages. One thing to remember is the spirit of irony he writes in; Elric was, after all, an OTT retort to the musclebound Conan adventurers. :>

I'll second the "not well written" part.

It's writing with ADD; it's also what makes Moorcock so good, because he throws ideas out at top speeds, good and bad.

your ink sketches rock--these are super dynamic and just so cool! i like the face on the 'twang' guy. more please!

also, it's fun to draw things that look retarded (http://us.vclart.net/vcl/Artists/Jill-C/Sketches/shriners.gif), i tend to do it really (http://us.vclart.net/vcl/Artists/Jill-C/Sketches/john2.jpg) often" (http://us.vclart.net/vcl/Artists/Jill-C/Sketches/john1.jpg)...even if its only purpose it to make myself laugh, usually :)

Having to go with your mistakes is exhilarating. Of course, I refrain from posting the ones that just don't work out. Who wouldn't?

And yeah... drawing things that look stoopid just because they make you laugh is what being a cartoonist is all about.
