bus doodles
May. 20th, 2004 09:19 pmI think my shoulders are starting to peel. Ugh. Squishy.
These bus doodles are mostly Twin. In pen. With one of Peganthyrus...
I was sort of thinking that it might be fun to do a portrait of Twin. I haven't, really, despite (her) growing importance to me. So I did a lot of pen scrawls. I was kind of forced to, as my pencil sharpener didn't want to work - good thing I had a spare ink cartridge for the pen in my pencil case, as I needed to change it. I could've used the mechanical pencil, but I wasn't in the mood for that; besides, I need to warm up my direct pen skills for the weekend.

There were a few others but they were sucky.

And then... I had this drifting urge to sketch... Peganthyrus. As not-me-in-a-dragon-suit, as herself. Just the slinky noir siren she always tended towards. Kind of a farewell, I guess. I started crying while doing this, and again while coming back to it on the way home for a few finishing touches. I might take this through Painter or Photoshop for a very different look from the usual Illustrator nonsense... something smudgy and smoky and a little distorted.

Then some more Twin sketches. Looking at this one after it was mostly done, I found myself thinking of this old drawing of Peganthyrus. Now that I look it up, I'm really glad to see it's not a spookily similar pose... This too might make for an interesting departure from the usual methods. I just wanna do something painterly today for some reason.
(Yes, I'm aware (she) has three legs here. I'm indecisive about poses sometimes.)

But alien war machines need no backstory. They just attack.

Date: 2004-05-20 10:37 pm (UTC)Hand in back down, out, and spread...
One leg up, mostly bent, knee out, foot inline with other leg...
Secondary appendage pointing mostly back, chaotically out of joint and trying to swirl around torso...
Just move Twin's arm to the 'beginning' of it's swish, and it seems like the main points of the poses are identical, like Peggy jumped forward, turned, the camera followed the turn, and you're left with Twin. =^.^=
Or maybe I'm seeing something that's not there.
