shower realization
Dec. 25th, 2002 02:06 pmAn early, early, early artistic influence on me:
Ed Emberly.
After the shower, I went out for a walk. The only businesses open on Christmas Day are movie theatres, and later in the evening, restaurants. I walked through a wide parking lot that was completely empty. Next to nobody is on the streets.
It's not as empty as New Orleans on Mardi Gras; if you stay away from the Quarter and the path of Rex (and Zulu, and the truck krewes), or from the subsidiary epicenters of Mardi Gras that have sprung up in the outlying burbs, you'd almost believe you were the last person left alive in the city. But going out into the city on Christmas Day is still eerie.
It'll be back to normal tomorrow, of course, as everyone runs out to exchange their gifts.
