I just googled for 'Peganthyrus'. As expected, every single hit had something to do with me; my homepage is the 'I'm feeling lucky' link.

I mean, it's not exactly a common name. Given that I made it up.

This one, however, puzzles me. It appears to be a list of Cool 404s, in which I'm number 111. What on earth are they saying about my 404? I'm curious.

I'm also curious about the German description of the long-dormant 'Bear's Tale' found at this German links page - what's the 'Mittelmäßig wilde Seiten' section heading mean, and just what is 'Ein abgefahrener Netzcomic, der leider-leider-leider nicht mehr fortgesetzt wird.' supposed to mean? I can guess what 'Netzcomic' means, but 'der leider-leider-leider'?

The other highlight of my search: A guy who uses one of my images as his avatar on a board for fans of the Fresno State sports program. Their teams appear to be called the Bulldogs. I'm especially amused by the fact that his entire bio is the URL to the image, and his handle is the name of the picture.

(The origin of the name 'Peganthyrus' is this: I liked the flavor of the name 'Peggy', and wanted something that would reasonably shorten to that. So I fooled around with random syllables until I had something that sounded like a decent name for a dragon. I don't remember what failed variants may have been.)

Google's translator says, "A driven off Netzcomic, which is not unfortunately unfortunately unfortunately no more continued." I think they're pretty disappointed that it stopped getting new pages. *snicker*

I am too, when I bother to think about it. *grin* But life happens.

'unfortunately-unfortunately-unfortunately'. That's got to be some kind of German cultural reference...

Rough translation:

Die wildesten Internetseiten - The wildest Internet sides

Mittelmäßig wilde Seiten - Moderately wild sides

Ein abgefahrener Netzcomic, der leider-leider-leider nicht mehr fortgesetzt wird - A driven off Netzcomic, which is not unfortunately unfortunately unfortunately no more continued.

As was suggested by the person with that wicked cool insane looking squirrel icon, it seems like they're disappointed that the site mentioned is gone, or something to that effect.

Hmm. "Seiten" which is "sides" could easily be replaced with "Aufstellungsorte" which is "site". Then again I'm not German myself. I only know a little. And we all know how one word for us, can totally mean something else to other cultures! For example... "die" in German is "those". And for us English speaking people... well, there ya have it.

Yep

The translation is pretty accurate, although I'm not sure if 'driven off' reflects the meaning of 'abgefahren', which basically means 'crazy', in a positive sense. Seiten in this context just means webpages.
And yes, those different meanings can be quite confusing. I still remember my grandpa freaking out because he received a package from some english guy labelled as 'gift', which means 'poison' in german... :)

So we get "a crazy(good) webcomic, which is very unfortunately abandoned". *grin*

That is funny. ::Snickers:: I wish I knew whatever happened to the friend I met from Germany. I need to go look for her.

Actually, I was quit disappointed the first time I entered a 'Gift Shop' in London and the most poisonous substances they sold were ground nutmeg and a rather ugly arragngement of jimson weed.
Is she somehow active on the internet? You might want to 'google' for her name, worked quite well for a guy from Holland I met once...

Just FYI, the squirrel icon is from one of the Unico movies, Unico being a gimpy little anime unicorn most popular (as far as I know) in the early 1980s. I haven't seen the movie in a very long time, but as I remember, a bunch of woodland creatures get infected with something evil and as a result their blank, expressionless eyes all start glowing green.

I'd love to get ahold of the movie and get some better screenshots (the one I'm using was harvested from a fansite and is only so-so in quality) but it's not currently in circulation, and getting a copy on eBay is horrendously expensive. Oh well.

Further proof that anything upskirt-related is sure to get Japanese attention. ;)

On that German site - whoa, stuff I'd NEVER think of doing. Like, "kids using jar-jar dolls as masturbation toys"? That's so... so... EWWWWW.

Eeek. I didn't look at any of the other links 'Bear's Tale' was keeping company with!

I've seen pictures of Barbies put to that use, and that's got interesting resonances regarding Barbie's position as an avatar of consumer culture and body-issues programming, but using a Jar-Jar for that is just nasty. Nasty, nasty, nasty.

*finds that link* Oh! Landover Baptist Church. I think this is a joke site... yeah. They acknowledge it very quietly, but if you go to the very bottom of the 'beliefs' page is a 'This parody is copyright...' note.

Whew. For a moment I thought the Jar-Jar Toy thing was some kind of toy perv site.

::Laughs:: Yeah! That Landover Baptist thing is a huge joke. But it gets a LOT of people with their underwear in a wad, let me tell you. I didn't pay much attention or go looking either, save for what you showed us. But I remember a few years ago my friend sent me something and it was Landover Baptist stuff.

Some of it is twisted and would make most folk squirm in their seats. However, it is all just a gag for a laugh, and maybe to piss off some narrowminded people.

OK! Whew. I didn't click on the link because I'm at work... I'd seen the Barbie "Vacation" pics, and I was getting some pretty scary images in my head... :P ;)
