My new website is finally up. egypt.urnash.com. Enjoy!

You'll have seen all the art before if you read my LJ regularly. But you might appreciate the search function the image gallery package I use has!

(And please let me know if it's utterly illegible on IE/Win.)

(Addendum: I hid the vertical centering on the front page from IE/Win. Seems it doesn't work, and fails badly. Works fine on IE/Mac! Someday I really should hack up a minimal Windows emulation for the sole purpose of website testing...)

Mostly, it looks good, Peggy, though for me, and I know this won't matter too much as I'm still on OS 9 using Mozilla 1.2.1, the thumbnails for all the sketchbook and illustration pages are cut off, leaving only a strip showing. The links work and I can get to the illo pages, but the thumbs are all messed up. Also, I wonder why you have to click on a thumbnail on the illo page to get an enlarged view. I did this by chance, as I didn't immediately notice instructions telling me to do so. Just don't understand the extra step.

Otherwise, nice looking site, and brave in the bio part. Good stuff! Hope clients come a knockin' right quick!

I wonder if that's a Mozilla bug or not. I know the last version of Mozilla available for OS9 is pretty old...

It's not a thumbnail on the illustration page; it's shrunk to fit your browser window! If you hit the 'full' link in the upper right, it'll show everything fullsize for that browsing session. I keep debating if I should tweak Gallery to default to showing full-size. It's easy to take that toggle out completely and only show fullsize images, harder to change the default.

I need to spread the URL around before possible clients start hitting my email!

I built it using a Mozilla variant, so I was pretty confident it'd work on Firefox, regardless of platform. There's no font trickery to speak of like there is on my LJ...

The DHTML-laden links aren't working with Mozilla 1.4.1 on Linux. I've noticed this problem on other sites with DHTML links as well.

You mean the menu links I generate with a little snippet of Javascript? Those're the only thing I'd really call anything like DHTML. (And I always thought that referred to Stupid Browser Animation Tricks, really.)

The rollover text change is entirely done via CSS. *grin*

Yes - the text-swapping links on your site's front page don't work for me, though if I click through the thumbnail to the gallery, the top-edge menu works just fine.

huh. That's pretty standard CSS trickery; it's just a :hover pseudo-selector. Mozilla 1.7.5, freshly downloaded from mozilla.org, has no problems with it - maybe it's a render bug in the old ones?

well, to be precise, it's a :hover:before trick. I wonder if the active area is misparsed as just the text, which has moved, rather than it being the text and the stuff added before it on a hover. Hm.

Yep. Sadly, big chunks are missing in IE - like the top half of your body, and the entire nav menu. Looks to my untrained eye like a Javascript problem.

...pardon me while I go scream. sigh So much for my hope that simple, relatively uncomplicated CSS would degrade pseudo-gracefully on IE.

Maybe I'll just hide my styles from IE with one hack or another.

(Or else maybe I'll mix a bit of tableology into the front page to vertically center it. I think the CSS trickery for vertical centering might be the culprit.)

I feel your pain. I'm redoing my own site, with a couple more looming on the horizon, and just dreading the moment I pull it up on Windows. :>

And yeah, I've given up on page-centering with pure CSS, at least for the time being.

You worked on Puffy Ami Yumi?

Jesus. I've spent the past few months trying to figure out why the heck I liked that show... XD

I did the Flash work for a total of, um, maybe a minute or two of the entire season. I'm no reason to like it. Hired hand sort of thing.
