My drawing from the day after. You know, I still don't see what vengeance on Al Quadida had to do with invading Iraq.

It had nothing to do with Al-Quadida, really. It's just what we wanted to do. That's the way I've always seen it.

Remember, Bush is the Little Dynasty. At least that is what the Chinese said, and that was back before he had a lot of speechmakers making him sound heroic on the air. It is sooooooo true.

Not really a whole lot with vengeance on Al Quadida per se, but more about the US having to beat up on *somebody* for 9-11, and Iraq had few friends.

The Iraq thing is all political. The Bush administration just used the anti-terrorist oomph that was going on to take out Iraq. The reason? Not stopping the opression of women, ending a dictatorship, or liberating the intellects of a nation, but oil. Iraq is a geopolitical choke point for our allies, and a fickle one at that. Ergo, if Iraq decided to not export *any* oil, our allies would start buying oil from where *we* do, and that would be bad. Taking out Iraq has actually been in the planning pegionhole for well over a decade. 'S just this adminstration that believed they had the backing to do it without being globally codemned.

Can see where /that/ got them. >_>;;
So, in short, they had no moral or really justifible reason and are a bunch of nincompoops. ^^;

Skip down a bit to the "screed" part, but James Lileks sums it up nicely.
