transit hell

One o'clock and I finally made it to work. Gah.
I was already running late, but then when I got to the subway station, there was an announcement: trains were not running through the Hollywood & Vine station because of "police activities". My route, of course, goes through this station. So I got off the subway at Western and took a very packed bus to the Highland stop.
They had that stop cordoned off with police, too. They were saying "a chemical spill" and "about an hour" ot people asking, but I somehow suspect that was a load of shit. Especially since I went off to get some fries at McDonalds (mostly to get some change so I could call work and say I wasn't going to make it today because of all this), and when I came back to use the phones by the station (because they're relativly clean-looking), it was open again,
I wonder just what was going on. I wish I'd gone with riding my bicycle today, as I was seriously considering this morning.
