The texture of dithered spurts of ink-jet, barely visible, plus the texture of common printer paper, make for a very interesting contrast to my crisp AI work. It nuked the flat-vs-texture contrast of the hair on that recent painting of Peganthyrus, but it's beautiful on that chaotic AI piece of Sosael.
Getting around to making really nice prints of my stuff will be interesting. Experimenting to find the right crudity of repro for some of my ultra-crisp work...

Date: 2004-05-27 11:51 pm (UTC)The texture-gloss (the 'luster' paper) doesn't really muddy up the image much. However -- I do have the ability to work on watercolor style media and canvas. I simply haven't gone out and gotten any, for lack of really having a use yet. It's roll-mounted stuff, and kind of fun to work with. Now you've got me curious...

Date: 2004-05-27 11:56 pm (UTC)I bet there's all kinds of interesting things one could do by printing on deliberately not-white paper, or even stuff that bleeds randomly... I wonder if it's really possible to print on handmade art paper, with varegated textures!
hmmm. This is something I could easily see being expensive experiments. Give me a way to fuck my drawings up and I will, it seems. Despite the basic execution being super-crisp.
