the power of branding
Nov. 8th, 2002 11:57 amOn my way in to work, I stopped at 7-11 for a bottle of water. 1.5l of Arrowhead, something resembling actual spring water; relatively tasty, hopefully less toxic than tapwater. I habitually get one every day.
This bottle of water is about one and a half dollars.
There was a guy in the store who also wanted water. He was staring at the case when I arrived; as I was paying for my water, he came up to the clerk with a tiny little bottle of water and asked how much it was. The clerk checked. It was two bucks. For probably an eighth as much water as I was getting.
This bottle, however, had Spider-man on the label.
Screw gold. Branded water is incredibly valuable for its weight.
