Yeah. Putting 'Godfather' at #1 seems kinda... fratboy. Not that I've ever seen it, but that seems to be the demographic that thinks it's the Greatest Movie of All Time, because it's about Being Manly and Honorable, or something like that.

It'd be interesting to track this one back to its source, see where this list came from, see if it's been edited on its journey. Maybe it started as '100 Best Movies Ever As Voted By Kids On Some Website'...

If it's 'notable' movies as well, I can sort of see Godfather. It has Marlon Brando and a horse's head. But Shawshank Redemption as #2, Godfather Part 2 as #3? Shawshank's a good movie, but I can't see it as being that high on the list, if it even is there at all.

Yeah. From what I know of some of the ones listed... hell, it's a weird list. Like the fact that it has Toy Story 2 on it instead of the original.

But measuring our various movie-watching historys against this arbitrary selection creates some sort of commonality, I suppose. And I know I couldn't put together a list of 100 Great Movies I've Seen, of dubious worth or not - I'm not sure I can think of 100 movies I've seen, much less ones I'd call 'great' or 'important'. I'm not even entirely sure I've seen that many... well, no, just thinking about averages and my age means I've probably seen a few hundred movies. But only a few hundred, notseveral hundred, or thousands.

I'd really reccomend a lot of the stuff on the list that I've seen - to be posted soon. The cinematography on some of these is really great and taught me a lot.

89 for me, but 5 of those I only saw half so perhaps it's 86.5 or something. Some of the films I've never seen are sort of strange because most people HAVE seen them -- Goodfellas, Se7en, Amelie, Schindler's List, Usual Suspects.

This is an odd list. The two Lord of the Rings movies are up at the top but Titanic and any Disney 2D animated features are missing.
