Rik got ahold of Spore. I wasted most of today with it.

It is no surprise to anyone that my first creature is a spider.

It is probably also no surprise that my second creature is a slinky dragon. Watching a pack of these do the social interaction bit makes me giggle a lot.

And here are the tribal-stage versions, which use pairs of masks as bustiers. Predictable? Me?

UI issue deluxe: "Save and Exit" in the editing stages does not, in fact, autosave into your save slot as I was expecting it, so all my progress with the spiders got lost, and if I want to try to take them into space they'll have to do it without their development bonuses. Suck. I am probably not gonna play it more than a couple days more anyway. Throw these guys into your world, if you like.

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] neogeen for the info on where to look in the Windows directory structure to find these files!

Today I went down to the class [livejournal.com profile] eselgeist is teaching and burbled for about an hour on the subject of my processes in the deck - mostly about how I went from basic concepts to imagery, since the class is 'Conceptual Drawing'.

It was weird to be standing there looking at a bunch of college students. I felt old, looking at the tail end of their crit and remembering when I was in classes like that, struggling to make sense of an assignment. I'm at the other end of the process of Learning To Draw, and it never really hit me before how far I've come. Until I was in the middle of a classroom talking. I feel like I left a lot of things I wanted to say out. Maybe next time. I suspect there'll be one.

I could go on about this for a bit but I think it'd mostly come down to, you know, realizing I'm just Not Young any more. In some good ways along with the creaky ways.

On the way back I started to make some progress on logos for [livejournal.com profile] tugrik. Then once I got off the bus I decided to start up Spore to poke at it a little, and the next thing I knew it was evening and Rik was home, wanting his machine back. Yikes. Man, I remember when Will Wright made action games...

(I got other stuff that needs doing too, of course. My to-do lists are moving so slowly right now. Still recovering from the show, I tell myself.)
