Earth of Water.

Ironically enough, this welcomingly wintry image was completed on the summer solstice. 15 to go before the show, and I've fallen a little further behind schedule - but I have some pretty good roughs to go with, and one card that's been waiting half done for a couple weeks, waiting for me to decide how to do its bg.

Print available on Artspots.

(Oh, and I also got the 5 of Pents up for prints - dunno how I missed putting it up in the first place.)

Drat. Illustrator won't let me enclose several layers in a distortion mesh. I suspect I probably would've decided not to ripple the reflection in the Queen of Cups anyway but it'd be nice to have the option to do it without having to jam it all into a single distortion group... I guess I'll just have to mess up my nice layer structure. Ah, wait, I can hack around it by clever group trickery. Yay. Now to think about how to properly make the ripple mesh...

edit: hey, finally a use for the warp tool. reasonably fine distortion mesh grid (but not too fine or it takes forever to process) + warp tool swipes = ripples. I'm still not sure it's actually a worthwhile effect. I'll save playing with it for when I'm done with the rest of the piece.
