Today I went out and had lunch. This is a rarity for me; usually I just have a few snacks during the day.

Amid was proposing a trip to In-N-Out, and I'd thought of going there this past weekend when out with a friend, but we didn't. So I went along with Amid and Eddie and Wil.

In-N-Out burgers are okay, but I'm not part of the cult following. I prefer Fatburger, where you can get whatever you want on your burger without having to learn the secret codes.

A little later that day I was suddenly VERY VERY TENSE AND TWITCHY. I can't help but wonder if this was related to the unfamiliar eating schedule. I was, admittedly, possibly being a bit overloaded at the time - listening to a kind of skittish CD on headphones, with conversation audible in the background, and snippets of click track and dialogue and music from the chunk of animatic I was editing. Still ,it was a very unpleasant trick of brain chemistry for whatever reason it happened.

I got up and went for a walk around the block out in the sunlight and felt a little better, but was still kinda weirded out all day...

Maybe it was something in the shake.

At least I remembered to call up Wacom and get an RMA for my broken tablet.

...I've routinely made orders that 'could' use those codes, but I never do. They're the only 'fast food' place I've met that I can dump a dozen custom orders on, and they somehow manage to get them all right, no delays, no extra hidden costs, just the food I want, nice and prompt, and friendly service. :-)

And yes, I've 'ordered' a simple salad before, it does work, folks. :-) You get a fry tray with lettuce and dressing on it, and if you ask they'll put tomatoes or such. A friend of mine's order was a burger, no-bun as a salad, which they translated as a fry tray with lettuce, tomatoe, grilled onions, and the patty ripped up on top with the cheese draped over the top of the mess. Said friend used it as dip for a bag of tortilla chips, thus proving you can get passable Nachos out of In-and-Out. :-)

See, that's just it. I don't want to try and hack a fast food chain to get what I want.

Besides, I like bacon on my burgers, and that's just not an option there.
