I just got the word from the horse's mouth: while money is, indeed, pretty tight around work, I am getting paid after all. *falls over from relief*

If I wasn't, I would be out of here. After Nebulous two years ago, I am not working for promises and team spirit, ever again.

Under what situation are they allowed to not pay you? Except for filing for bankruptcy?
Fergive my iggorance - but I have too have worked for promised greener pastures- but never for nothing. Is that legal? You've read some of the crap I've been told was forthcoming and believed I would eventually get - but dedication to supporting a corpse was never a prerequisite.

None, really. Thing is, it was looking like bankruptcy was real close this week unless Viacom coughed up the money. Then Kevin told Eddie that, yes, they were gonna give us the money, but they weren't going to give us more money so John could get insanely obsessive over the last couple shows of the season.

Also, the animation industry in the US is (a) pretty damn small and insular and (b) chock full of people who Work Very Hard for the Good Of The Team. Bunch of fucking workaholics. This sort weird shit happens all too often; it's a believable possibility for "oh shit, the money ran out, sorry!" to happen at smaller shops.

Sometimes I really think I should go for a career change.

plucks grey hairs outta the pink ones*.
Young go-getters will eventually get their come-uppance.
We did.

*grin* Actually, grey hairs are welcome. They don't need to be bleached before dying. I'd be ecstatic if my hair went totally white! But it seems to have followed the pattern of my father's hair color, which was to start having a small, scattered amount of grey at puberty...

So do you have any quiet, secret grudges you're carrying around? Not neccesarily big huge kill grudges, just... if you get a chance to casually kick an obstacle in their way, you might, and you certainly won't remove one from their path?

I do!

Yes.
Mostly they have to do with comics.
I used to do comics, y'know - which, in Australia, is akin to admitting you are a Breatharian. And about as financially viable.
I still occasionally go on convention panels for kicks... and for some bleak obstacle kicking...

Yeah, I'm just a big old bundle of resentment at heart.

Great Peggy! I'm so relieved you're getting paid. You had me worried there.

If things start to go south, start calling that little rat dog of Mr. Worth's "Menchi" and looking at it hungrily. (Anime joke)

No need to remind you but...

You STILL ought to follow up on those other job possibilities. The best time to do it is while you're still employed, and if you have any doubts, just think of the 'leiderhosen' threat...
