argh, lj gets uglier and uglier
Aug. 28th, 2003 08:00 amSo there was an announcement on
paidmembers about another new S2 style for LJ. Like the one some people are already using, it's very very boxy, and it explicitly specifies tiny fonts. And, of course, it defaults to skinning the comments pages as well as one's own journal pages. And is just as noisily illegible.
I finally managed to find a workaround for annoying skinned comments pages - the s2 style I was playing around with before explicitly uses the system comments style, so if I add an override for custom comments that appends '&s2id=23184' to each read/post comment link, I get the nice, legible system stuff instead of whatever hideous colors and squinty layout you may have selected. It'll break down if I read comments, then add a comment from there, or add a comment then read the resulting page, but it'll stop me from grumbling whenever I click on a link in my friends page that happens to belong to someone who has chosen to skin their comments.
(nb: I don't guarantee that the s2 style I refer to will always remain in existence, or that it will continue to use the default system style - it probably will, but you have been warned. I went back to s1, and am using this formula for custom comment text, except I've changed them back to the default text.)
When the hell is LJ going to add an 'Always use system skin for comments pages' preference?
