I still ride it, I still draw, so I still have bus doodles. And I have long since run out of ideas for interesting ways to say 'rough scrawls behind this cut tag'. I should just start doing entries titled 'bus doodles' with a cut tag, and no intro.

Some based to various degrees on people on the bus, some not. There were some aliens, too, but they absolutely sucked; this continues the trend of yesterday's bus scrawls, which were also aliens, and also completely crap.

Does anyone have suggestions for the Nifty Extraterrestrial Concepts Visual Swipe File, besides Howarth and Barlowe?

One thing I've noticed since kicking the 'furry' crutch out from beneath myself is that I'm really interested in ethnicity. There's a lot of variety in the way human faces and heads are shaped, and I'm fascinated by this. I want to learn how to play with this variety, how to make someone distinctly a particular flavor of human without descending into blatant stereotyping (Jews have big noses, blacks have huge white lips [a caricature of a caricature], chinese have slanty eyes and buck teeth... you know. The stuff you have to apologize for when watching old cartoons.)

I have always been a fan of Arabic, and near east people, and clothing designs. I don't know how much of what I like is an Americanised "Sinbad" variation on the actual culture. But I have always liked Arabic looks, circa 1100-1700 ad. If I could draw people, I'd try some.

You can; you've just convinced yourself you can't. Just ban yourself from drawing animal-people for a few weeks; draw the same amount as usual and accept that they're going to be horrid at first... and you will learn.

I see drawn people.

I like the running guy, dynamic.

I used to take the bus, I used to draw in the bus. Mostly my character in macro form stomping on the annoying little brats sitting in the same bus.

Running Guy and Black Guy are the best. The one-eyed lady reminds me of the grandma from BONE.

I've tried drawing people on the bus, but I'm always afraid they're gonna see me and get mad at me or something for drawing them without thier permision.

It's interesting that the less time you have spent drawing furry, a greater wealth of human expression has appeared in your people roughs.
These look great, compared even to some of your earlier people. Not so much falling back on a generic "head" to imply a human, I suppose.

As for Nifty Extraterrestrial Concepts Visual Swipe File - would say Fil Barlow. if you've got a decent comishop nearby try ordering his old comic "Zooniverse". He's a designer on some cartoons over there now, I believe...

Americanized exotic looks aren't bad.. because you're still drawing stuff way more interesting than standard. Your gesture rox, too. Like that simple redirected smear for the bucktoothed woman's lips. Rockstar.
