a movie you probably already saw
Feb. 26th, 2010 08:41 pmJust watched Coraline with my mother. Or, rather, I just watched most of it alone, after she decided to go to bed before the title character even found the door to where her Other Mother lay waiting.
When I was young, I had a dream. I went into the darkness of my parents' bedroom and pushed the dresser to one side; behind it, there was this glittering, glowing, greenish crystalline tunnel going off into... somewhere. If it had obeyed normal dimensional rules it would've just been a hole to the outside, but it went... somewhere else, instead.
I didn't go into it. I don't remember if I made a conscious decision not to, or if I just woke up before I could make a choice. This movie reminded me of that dream.
Also, the digitally-aided replacement heads were pretty cool. Kinda eerie, even - my brain couldn't decide if I was watching stop-motion or 3D work.
