Dear Adobe,

Thank you very much for the new and improved file export dialogue in Illustrator CS3 and above. My life is much more interesting now that I have to open up Photoshop just to load in an AI file and rasterize it to a specific dimension, instead of being able to do it straight from Illustrator! Especially when Photoshop's batch processor merrily saves each file over the last!

Fuck you very much,
Peggy.

But, but, but, code reuse!

And it gives Photoshop a chance to fuck up your color profile or at least whinge that you've used a non-photoshop color profile and then it can prompt you with a default option to blow away your color profile and use photoshop's and the focus isn't on the radio buttons so you have to click on the one you want instead of arrowing and if you batch open files, it puts each dialog in a different spot on the screen and there's no bloody way you can set an option to say, "FUCK YOU PHOTOSHOP. I ALWAYS WANT TO USE MY EMBEDDED COLOR PROFILE."

Though perhaps this is more fucking irritating when you're working with digital photos and have to navigate that stupid fucking dialog about 400 times.

Mama Adobe knows what's best for her little ones. Best not to question it. Might ruin your photos just to teach you a lesson. >:C

Reuse? Not when you used to have all the code for an export dialogue that actually had the options you might want to use and threw it away to write a shitty new one!

What I mean is, they fired one of their developers for gross incompetence and now they're reusing his code.

You know... I don't use it much... but just listening to your complaints makes me happy I never upgraded from CS.

I got an Intel Mac. Not upgrading wasn't an option; the old ones just don't install.

I'm using CS3... and I haven't any clue what you're talking about here, because I haven't had this issue.

file->export, choose a bitmap format (such as TIFF), try to output it at any size besides the size it was drawn at and you're in hell.

Ah, yes. It requires a bit of math... and probably trial and error, since it doesn't seem to have the 'clip to artboard' option. That is pretty bad. Even more annoyingly, I don't think it uses the smarter aspects of PNGs (different colour spaces, colour profiles, aspect ratio definition, all that) otherwise I'd suggest using those. *grumble*

Yeah... Adobe has issues.
